Oh, dear Disney+ what have you done? Are you expecting us to keep our cool when you just released the first teaser trailer of the highly anticipated Obi-Wan Kenobi? (Psst, we’ve got the link if you missed it; head over here) Sorry to disappoint, but here at The Honey Pop we just can’t help ourselves! The hype is real! And we reach out to all our fellow Star Wars fans to find coping mechanisms. Rumor has it that Disney+ is releasing our beloved, witty Jedi series on May 25th. Indeed, the wait feels impossible. But we thought maybe going over some enjoyable yet memorable Obi-Wan Kenobi quotes will certainly lighten our heavy waiting hearts. So, shall we?

“Hello There”

Let’s start with a snappy one! And who doesn’t love the portrayal of the legendary Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi in the versatile Scottish actor Ewan McGregor’s hands? Let’s face it, he’s exactly what the young take on the grand Jedi Master needs. Wits, sass, gravitas, and a ton of physical dexterity. So, when he addresses General Grievous in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith with such candor, all we can do is smile.

“You Want To Go Home And Rethink Your Life”

We are here for the Jedi mind tricks! And everyone would like to think they could resist them, but it definitely has its perks. Picture this: you live in a global pandemic, you feel a bit at odds with your life decisions, cue to Obi-Wan’s grand display of mercy as he sends you off back home to reassess your current situation. Almost like a public service of sorts! (Any similarity to actual persons or actual events, is purely coincidental)

Still, we hope that the lost soul on Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones trying to sell death sticks to our resident hero, did reexamine their life choices.

“So Uncivilized”

Obi-Wan Kenobi is nothing if not classy. So when having to resort to other more crude ways of finishing off the menacing General Grievous in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, his remark, in the end, shows his feelings towards blasters.

“I Hate It When He Does That”

Aw, many would disagree with us but isn’t this a cute remark? Yes, he’s referring to his very volatile Padawan Anakin Skywalker. And maybe we are way out of line, but we truly love a healthy showing-off-while-disobeying kind of moment. So, we can relate to this Master’s frustration just as much as we enjoy the complete scene from Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones.

“Why Do I Get The Feeling That You Are Going To Be The Death Of Me?”

Sarcastic Obi-Wan gets us every time! And this one is no exception! In Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones we see Obi-Wan jesting Anakin as they pursue a target. Little could he know, he was foreshadowing his own demise. But we truly appreciate the banter while we witness their Master-Padawan relationship evolve.

“Good Job”

Keep the snarky Obi-Wan moments coming! Two words! That’s all it took from Jedi Kenobi to have us cracking up at the absurdity of the situation. Because we all have reacted probably in the exact same way.

Context: in Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones Obi-Wan was relying on his Padawan to transmit an S.O.S message and stay clear from danger, only to find Anakin escorted to the same arena where he’s been held captive. 10/10 Anakin!

“I Have The High Ground”

This one is memorable! Although it brings back some very red-tinted scenes that find our once-friendly duo in a deadly duel in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. But we chose it because it yields a twofold meaning we love! The quite literal that implies that Obi-Wan has the advantageous position; and the more subtle one, which refers to him having the moral higher ground. Talk about throwing some epic frank shade!

“You Were My Brother, Anakin! I Loved You!”

And to finish with a bang, this quote. Filled with raw emotions, Obi-Wan Kenobi speaks these words to fellow former Jedi Anakin in the last scenes of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. Spoken to a companion who lost the battle and succumbed to the dark side… This quote is such a powerful one because it shows that Anakin’s resentment towards his Master was misplaced. Obi-Wan wasn’t treating him as a son but as a brother. Cue to tears.
