Franz Ferdinand’s new greatest hits album is more than a casual round-up of their biggest singles: it’s designed with their global fanbase in mind. According to the band, Hits To The Head contains “the bangers.” Of course, many of the songs featured are worldwide hits, but they made sure to include fan-favorites as well.

Hits To The Head begins with the sultry ‘Darts of Pleasure,’ and bounds straight into the legendary track ‘Take Me Out.’ Here’s what singer Alex Kapranos had to say about choosing which songs would show up on Hits To The Head:

“It’s the same as writing a set-list for a festival: you want to play the songs you know people want to hear. The hits. Bring the hits to the head. The heart. The feet. That means obvious singles, but also songs you know how a special meaning for both band and audience like ‘Outsiders.’

Judging by the art currently showing in the #FranzArtFriday tag, there are no doubts Franz Ferdinand’s new greatest hits album has gotten fans excited. We at The Honey POP are stoked not only about the fabulous tracklist but about the two brand-new bangers as well, ‘Curious’ and catchy ‘Billy Goodbye.’ Both songs were co-produced with Stuart Price who has worked with other THP faves like Dua Lipa and Madonna. ‘Curious’ is loaded with the band’s signature sound but with a fresh, mysterious edge. ‘Billy Goodbye’ will be the new song stuck in your head all the time, upbeat with the feel of an impromptu garage show.

You can feel the band’s excitement for this greatest hits album during recent interviews. Part of their intent with Hits To The Head was to change the stigma around “greatest hits” albums. Alex had this to say:

“I have friends who believe you’re somehow not a “real” fan if you own a best of rather than a discography. I disagree. I think of my parents’ record collection as a kid. I loved their compilation LPs.”

Speaking of LPs, vinyl-lovers rejoice: the band has several physical versions of Hits To The Head available here, including an indies-only exclusive limited edition double gold LP. (Yes, we know it’s sold out, but we have our fingers crossed for a restock ASAP.)

While you wait for that restock, go listen to Hits To The Head here, on all your fave streaming platforms and let The Honey Pop know what you think of it over on our Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter!
