When there is so much good music out there, it can be hard to choose where to start when you’re looking for new songs to listen to or new artists to check out. Over here at THP, we like to make things a little easier for you and point you in the direction of all our favorite artists who are both established and rising talents. Today, we wanted to raise a toast to some of our favorite songwriters and highlight their incredible craftsmanship!
Jewel is a 4-time GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter with a rather prolific career. She’s also just released a beautiful single from Freewheelin’ Woman, her first album in 7 years, which is out April 15th. ‘Long Way ‘Round’ is a feel-good, Americana-infused track that is all about persevering through the hard times to get to a stronger and happier place. Sometimes that just takes a little more time and, like Jewel says, you’ve just got to take the ‘Long Way ‘Round’. Jewel has said this is the most experimental and creative album of her career so far and we can’t wait to see her dive even further into her artistry.
Graham Nash has long been an incredibly influential songwriter, both as a solo artist and with the various iterations of his band Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. He is a musical icon to generations and has often been at the forefront of protest music. He has often strived to make the world a more peaceful place and calls out injustices and the wrongdoings of those in power with his musical gifts.

Now Graham is treating us to Graham Nash: Live, a celebratory live release of music from his two solo albums. The collection of live recordings from Beginners and Wild Tales will be available on May 6th. Ahead of the album, Graham has released a live version of his hit song ‘Military Madness!’
There’s a reason Carrie is the most awarded artist in CMT history (23 wins!! 23!! That’s more awards than years this THP writer has been alive!!) and she’s once again showcased why she definitely deserves every one of them. Her new single, ‘Ghost Story,’ is a collaboration with Josh Kear, Hillary Lindsey, and David Garcia. These amazing songwriters have helped her pen some of her greatest hits like ‘Cry Pretty,’ ‘Before He Cheats,’ and ‘Jesus, Take The Wheel.’ You have at least one of those songs in your playlists and if you don’t, well… we don’t believe you. You need to fix it!

The song is a new take on a revenge song for Carrie, letting her ex-lover know that she’s going to haunt him despite how hard he will try to forget her. The single is released ahead of Carrie going back to Las Vegas for another run of REFLECTION: The Las Vegas Residency. Check out the gorgeously cinematic lyric video below!
Up and coming singer-songwriter Peter McPoland is only 20 years old, but he has already achieved a depth of songwriting that some of us could only dream of. The folk-pop artist has a way with words that is soul-baring and leaves no emotions unturned. His latest single called ‘Let Her Remember’ is a raw and heart-aching ballad. Combine that with an equally emotional video and suddenly we’ve got a lot of tears and a whole lot of feelings.
If you didn’t know Peter before, you’re going to want to now. We’re pretty sure one day he’s going to be a folk-pop mainstay like Gregory Alan Isakov or even Joni Mitchell. His full EP, Slow Down, is due to be released on May 20th. Until we get to hear more from him, we’ll be here. In a puddle of tears. Just watching this on repeat. Forever.
Erica Campbell has just released the lead single of her 3rd studio album and it is good vibes, left, right, and center. This artist is trying to take back the word “positive” like she says, as the term has come to mean something a little different over the past couple of years. But fear not, Erica is championing kindness and grace and trying to give power back to the word. She wants no negative energy, she is feeling ‘Positive.’ And we positively love her!
If you want to see more from Erica, you can catch her on Uncensored on TVOne on the 17th of April. On the show, she’ll be giving the audience the unfiltered version of how she has achieved her dreams and everything she did to get to where she is now. We love her lyrics and can’t wait to hear more about her journey so you know we’ll be tuning in! Erica’s album is due out September 23rd, so keep an eye out for it!
Em Beihold has been making waves on TikTok with her songwriting and it is well deserved. Her single ‘Numb Little Bug’ has been adopted by many Gen Z fans who feel that she’s captured their current feelings on their place in the world. Em has recently released ‘Numb Little Bug – Piano Version’ and it is beautiful beyond words. The stripped-back instrumental really highlights how intelligently and beautifully she crafts lyrics and encourages the listener to engage with the emotion in them. The original single also showcases her ability to create a song. as the lyrics are introspective and depict someone who is struggling, which is a total contrast to the upbeat pop vibe of the instrumental. We’re here for it though!

We’re finishing today’s round-up with some upbeat, Tom Grennan goodness! As he gears up to release his third album, Tom is not coming to play! His new track ‘Remind Me’ is bringing all the posi vibes just in time for all this sunshine.

I wanted to write a song that reminded me of a moment in my life where I realised I had given up something that was really making a difference in my life – in a good way. It’s about reconnecting. It’s that feeling when you’re at the top of the rollercoaster and you’re like: ‘this is the best feeling.’
Tom Grennan on ‘Remind Me’
We love that positive energy and that powerful force of good energy comes through in the song. It’s like we’re sat at the top of the rollercoaster with him, just knowing the time coming is going to be better and brighter than ever. We hope you get the feeling once you’ve listened to it too! And good news! You can, right here!
