A Lyrical Analysis Of Deante’ Hitchcock’s ‘Alone’

Deante’ Hitchcock doubts love with ‘Alone.’ This sultry R&B song is about Deante’ being scared to fall in love with his potential partner. The Honey POP has this song on repeat!! ‘Alone’ puts us in Deante’s mind, where he goes back and forth between his player ways and falling in love with someone.

In the intro of the song, Deante’ sings, “Met this lil diva from the westside, I won’t say it’s love, but I f**k with you. And I even let her see my best side. I’ve been hurt before, can’t get comfortable.”

We can all relate to these lyrics! Deante’ is slowly showing his potential partner his best self. Whether she brings it out of him, or not, it’s clear that she affects him! But then Deante’ tells himself that he can’t get too comfortable with her cause he’s been hurt before, exposing his fear of opening up.

He’s A Pisces By The Way

Deante’ goes from singing in the intro to rapping in the first verse, and we love the versatility! He talks about how love never works out and continues to struggle between falling in love and staying alone.

“Love never seem to work out how we plan it. We be so busy trying to be understood, we forget how to be understanding.“ This lyric is so deep and relatable! We appreciate Deante’s iconic lyricism!

He continues to ponder on these themes in the second verse by rapping, “I be in my feelings I know it, b*tch I’m a Pisces yeah. Love don’t cost a thing, but when it don’t work out it’s pricey yeah.” Deante’ states nothing but facts in these lyrics! THP is screaming since he admitted he’s a Pisces (in a good way).

He closes the second verse by rapping, “Just know that if you lost me, then you lost period. And if you left me all alone, don’t call my phone, I’m serious.”  We love seeing him enforce boundaries if the relationship doesn’t work out! ‘Alone’ is one of those songs that you listen to alone at 3 am! This is also a good song to put on your crush’s playlist to hint that you like them!
