‘Dopamine Addict’

What an album opener! ‘Dopamine Addict’ really sets the tone for what an incredibly vulnerable, masterly written album (Un)Commentary is. Like, who can put the word “psychosomatic” in a song? Alec Benjamin, who is one of the best songwriters around right now, that’s who!

‘The Way You Felt’

Alec has this soft, unique voice that is recognizable anywhere. In ‘The Way You Felt,’ that soft voice lends itself so well to the message of the song. ‘The Way You Felt’ is such a vulnerable song. Being so in love and then dealing with the heartbreak that follows is never easy, and hearing those feelings put into music always gets us.

‘Hill I Will Die On’

‘Hill I Will Die On’ feels like a commentary on the current state of our world. Whenever an artist can write a song that holds so much weight and resonates with such a shared experience it’s a beautiful thing. That art has been mastered on ‘Hill I Will Die On,’ we see ourselves constantly coming back to this track.

‘Devil Doesn’t Bargain’

‘Devil Doesn’t Bargain’ is, vocally speaking, our favorite track on (Un)Commentary. The track is all about trying to convince someone you can’t fix other people. It’s a hard lesson we all need to learn. As Alec Benjamin says, “He’ll never be Prince Charming.”

‘Nancy Got A Haircut’

‘Nancy Got A Haircut’ is a short track but packs a big punch. The track has a unique beat and is a bit more upbeat than the rest of the record. Something that isn’t talked about enough is how seemingly having it all from the outside looking in doesn’t always tell the full story, Alec Benjamin paints that picture beautifully here on ‘Nancy Got A Haircut.’
