Binge-Worthy Buzz: Back Again With Some Sweet New Choices

binge-worthy buzz

Hello, honeybees, how are you? Welcome back to Binge-Worthy Buzz, our weekly series where we recommend you new movies and shows to watch because we know you love them as much as we do. With the intro out of the way, let’s dive in!

Take Me To The River New Orleans

The Take Me To The River movies are documentaries focused on celebrating the rich musical history of different cities across the United States. The first one on the series was Memphis and now, they’re taking us to one of the country’s most unique cities: New Orleans.

Throughout the movie, we follow a group of musicians from the city, both legacy and modern, as they produce 20 to 25 new songs together. The film also plans on showing how resilient art can be in the face of disasters, such as hurricane Katrina. The movie has been in theaters since April 22, so you better go watch it!

The Devil You Know

For all the thriller-lovers out there, this one will definitely make its way into your watch lists. The Devil You Know follows Marcus Cowans just as he leaves prison and tries to turn his life around.

As the movie goes on, everything seems fine until he finds out his brother might be involved in a horrible crime and he is forced to answer the question of how far he is willing to go for his brother. The movie is currently available on VOD if you want to find out the answer.

The Process

You know we had to talk about at least one reality show this week. And today’s chosen one is The Process, a musical reality show whose contestants aren’t technically musicians at all. Instead, Link Up TV’s latest projects brings us an already established artist, LD – with the help of Fumez The Engine – who’s looking for someone to produce his latest single and someone to direct its MV.

The first episode, which you can check out below, focuses on 3 producers competing to see who will produce LD’s new track. And episode two, already available on Link Up TV’s channel, will focus on 3 directors wanting to direct the single’s music video. Our favorite part about this new show is that it’ll shine a light on the side of the music industry not that many people are familiar with: the production side of it all.

National Geographic’s anthology series Genius currently has three seasons available on Hulu, focusing on the great minds of Albert Einstein, Aretha Franklin, and Pablo Picasso. The series dives deep into the lives of these great personalities, giving the audience a better understanding of who they were as people behind all the fame we came to know them for over the decades.

And good news, people! Season four has just been announced, this time on Disney+. In this season, we’ll be taking a closer look into the lives of Civil Rights leaders Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jr., as well as the different views each of them had regarding how to achieve racial equality. And for this season, Reggie Rock Bythewood and Gina Prince-Bythewood are joining Brian Grazer and Ron Howard as executive producers.

The Essex Serpent

Alright, so maybe Apple TV+‘s newest show is still a few weeks away, but it’s Tom Hiddleston we’re talking about here! Give us a break, we just had to talk about this man, okay? Glad you understand, now let’s get into the story. The Essex Serpent is an upcoming series based on the novel of the same name written by Sarah Perry.

The main character is the widow Cora Seaborne, who moves from London to Essex to investigate the supposed appearances of a mythical serpent. In her new home, she forms a friendship with the village vicar – who’s played by Tom Hiddleston, so can we really blame her? But of course, things can’t be perfect, so when tragedy happens, the town turns on her. Curious to find out more? So are we! May 13 better get here soon!
