Ah, our sweet Honey Poppers, you know when we love a track, we can’t stop talking about it, and this is no different.
Mother Mother have continued in their journey with ‘Hayloft,’ and sadly, we have reached the end. But there is nothing to mourn for because we’ve got some amazing tracks from it. So before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s start at the beginning.

So, we begin the ‘Hayloft’ saga with part one. It’s probably already in your playlists because of the traction it built on TikTok, but did you know it was actually released in 2009? Can you believe that? 12 years ago! But, as we mentioned, the track caught traction on TikTok about a year ago, and we are all thankful for that because now we have an official story music video. And if you didn’t catch what ‘Hayloft I’ one was about, don’t worry because the MV perfectly tells us the story. There are two young lovers who aren’t supposed to be together. They eventually get caught in the hayloft by the main character’s father, who then starts a cat and mouse chase with the other. It doesn’t end well for the lovers, but the song is a certified bop.
So, the announcement for ‘Hayloft II’ was just sprung onto fans via a small snippet on TikTok, and it made everyone go wild. Because Mother Mother couldn’t just end the story on a cliffhanger, and well everyone loves a good revenge story. ‘Hayloft II’ picks up five years after the events of part one. And yes, she does get revenge on her father, but it doesn’t come without consequences as she quickly starts unraveling. Simply put, she is losing it. She not only sees a resemblance between her and her father but keeps seeing him pop up everywhere. ‘Hayloft II,’ dare we say, is our favorite part in the saga. That breakdown at the 2:30 mark, plus the cinematography, really topped the cake for us.
And now here we are with ‘Hayloft II (SMASHUP),’ and it is simply music to our ears. You can stream the hit, here. You really shouldn’t pass it up it’s really nice to listen to with a good pair of headphones on, as you get really engulfed in both parts. Also, don’t forget to check out the other versions of the track, such as the ‘Hayloft’ (Burning Barn Acoustic), DNMO Mix, and the Dark Verb Mix.
