Binge-Worthy Buzz: What’s Buzzing This Week

binge-worthy buzz

Hello, honeybees, and welcome to another edition of Binge-Worthy Buzz, our weekly series where we bring you new recommendations for what to watch next. Without further ado, let’s dive in!

Who Wants To Be An Emo Millionaire

We’re kicking off the list with Twitch‘s greatly acclaimed series Who Wants To Be An Emo Millionaire, hosted by Gunz on his Twitch channel, TheGunzShow. Episodes air live on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7 pm (EST). The first guest of the week was With Confidence, and coming up on Thursday, we’ll be seeing Travis Mills.

In Who Wants To Be An Emo Millionaire, Gunz tests his guests’ knowledge of emo music. Meanwhile, fans who watch live can act as a lifeline and help the artists participating in the show while also having the opportunity to win concert tickets, merch, VIP tickets, and more. If you need us, we’ll be watching Thursday’s episode live and then rewatching it as many times as we can on TheGunzShow.

Conversations With Friends

Being vulnerable is hard, we all know that. And that’s probably why we’re so hyped about Conversations With Friends. Frances, the girl taking us on whats sure to be quite the emotional journey, is 21 year old – a college student trying to be an adult and find her way through the whirlwind of relationships with her peers, which make her look in the mirror and reflect on her vulnerable side for the first time. We don’t know about you, but we relate so hard to Frances.

The cast includes Alison Oliver as Frances, as well as Joe Alwyn, Sasha Lane, and Jemima Kirke. The series starts streaming on Hulu on Sunday, May 15. We’re hyped to see where this story takes us, pretty sure we’re going to cry over it, though.

The Ignorant Angels

This Italian Hulu original is for those who love a good plot twist. In Ignorant Angels, we meet Antonia, whose husband’s just died in an accident. After his death, she finds out he was having an affair with a young man named Michele. She’s obviously shaken by the news but decides she wants to find out more about her husband’s secret life.

We just don’t think she was expecting to form such a strong friendship with Michele and his friends, who she comes to find out were almost a second family to her husband, Massimo. Her new friends change her outlook on life and possibly will help her learn to love once again. But that’s the part we won’t tell you and you’ll have to watch to find out, which you can do both in Italian with subtitles or dubbed in English as of right now.

Queen Sugar

Queen Sugar takes place in Louisiana and follows the estranged Bordelon family. The main characters are Nova, a journalist and activist, Charley, a wife and manager of an NBA player, and Ralph Angel, a previously incarcerated father searching for redemption. When tragedy strikes, the siblings must all set their differences and complicated lives aside to run the family’s sugar cane farm.

The main trio is played by the wonderful Rutina Wesley as Nova, Dawn-Lyen Gardner as Charley, and Kofi Siriboe as Ralph Angel. Currently, the first five seasons are available on Hulu, and on Monday, May 16, season six will be available as well. We suggest you go binge-watch seasons one through five as quick as possible.

After being successful on CBBC, Silverpoint is coming to Hulu this Friday, May 13, and being available on Friday the 13 makes sense considering this is a mystery and sci-fi series. The main quartet is formed by Louis, Meg, Kaz, and Glen, four teens currently stuck at Silverpoint Camp with no access to technology or internet, very far away from their comfort zone.

Everything seems boring and normal for them until the moment they wander into the woods and find a… strange object buried in the ground. As it’s the case in most mystery shows, they decide no one would believe them if they said what they found so they keep quiet about. But that doesn’t mean their lives will continue to be boring and quiet after their discovery.

A Cops And Robbers Story

We’re ending today’s list with a 2020 movie set to come to Hulu on Thursday, May 12. A Cops And Robbers Story follows Corey Pegues, an NYPD police officer with a stellar 21-year career in the 1980s.

There’s only a single issue he’s about to run into: he used to be a member of New York City’s infamous Supreme Team gang many years before joining the NYPD. He may have thought those days were behind him, but it seems like his past is about to catch up to him.

And this is where we end today’s Binge-Worthy Buzz. Tell us what you thought of our list on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram. We’ll love to hear from you!
