12 Upcoming Albums We Can’t Wait To Hear Later This Year

Nothing’s quite as exciting as finding out that your favorite artist is dropping a new album, and lucky for us, a ton of talented stars are getting ready to release new projects! If you’re anything like us at THP, you’re counting down the days until 5 Seconds of Summer give us 5SOS5 and inspecting everything Taylor Swift has posted in the last few months trying to figure out which album she’ll rerecord next. But in the meantime, check out these artists’ latest work and get hype for their albums!

Consider this the ultimate calendar for the releases you need to keep an ear out for. Take notes!

guccihighwaters – Heartbreak Highway EP (May 20th)

Okay, so we know we said albums, but we had to make an exception for the amazing guccihighwaters. We’ll be driving down the Heartbreak Highway with his new EP later this month and we can’t wait to see what kind of unique alt-pop sounds the project has in store for us. While we wait, we’ll have ‘the chase’ on repeat (with the volume up all the way, of course) and we’re not sorry about it.

Heartbreak Highway is the start of a new era for me – we elevated production, lyrics, instrumentals, and visuals until it all clicked. I feel like I’m still only in the beginning of learning about who I am as an artist and am grateful to the old fans and new who are coming along for the ride.

Post Malone – Twelve Carat Toothache (June 3rd)

This is not a drill – Post Malone is finally coming back and proving to the world what a ‘rockstar’ he is! The Twelve Carat Toothache era is in full swing thanks to the release of ‘Cooped Up,’ a collab with Roddy Ricch that offers such a cool combination of pop and the hip-hop sound he rose to stardom with. We know Twelve Carat Toothache will offer the best of every side of Post’s artistry, and we’ll be counting down the days until we get to hear the full project.

Hamond – Pirate Radio (June 8th)

If we had the means to create our own pirate radio station to play nothing but Hamond’s incredible music, we totally would. But for now, we’ll happily settle for his upcoming Pirate Radio album! Hamond pieces together everything from pop to R&B and rock, and his latest single, ‘Pieces,’ is the perfect representation of all that he offers. He cleverly touches on the rock sounds that were prevailing during the key pirate radio eras in the 60s and 90s, and we’re here for every note of the ride.

Judah & The Lion – Revival (June 10th)

Revival is truly going to be a rebirth of Judah & The Lion, we can just feel it! This alt-rock outfit always delivers relatable lyrics with guitar riffs you won’t be able to get out of your head, so naturally, they deserve approximately 400 spots on your playlist. Their latest single, ‘scream!,’ is such a promising glimpse into what Revival has to offer, touching on how chaotic the world has been and how it makes us feel so frazzled on an individual level. Hopefully this can be a revival for all of us!

Christina Perri – a lighter shade of blue (June 24th)

Christina Perri constantly amazes us with her incredible voice, and we know a lighter shade of blue will definitely deliver in the vocal department while giving us her first album in almost a decade. It’ll also deliver in the emotional department – much of the album touches on the loss of her daughter, Rosie, and we’re sure it’s a beautiful tribute to her. For a little teaser of what’s to come, listen to Christina’s latest single, ‘mothers,’ which shows love to all kinds of moms with a surprise appearance from her own daughter, Carmella!

Jamie T – The Theory Of Whatever (July 29th)

Whatever Jamie T has up his sleeve for The Theory Of Whatever, we know we’ll be beyond impressed! He just celebrated the 15th anniversary of his debut album, Panic Prevention, and it’s clear that his best days and his best songs are still ahead. The indie-rock jam ‘The Old Style Raiders’ is the perfect proof of that, and it’s perfect for those summer music festival vibes or nights driving around with friends.

I was struggling to find my direction with the record for a few years, really. I went home one day, and I found this track that I had recorded, pretty much fully finished. And I was really upset, because I realized that I’d spent the last six months asking other people to tell me if something was good. Then I heard [the track ‘The Old Style Raiders’] and I just immediately knew I’d kind of found my path.

Kasabian – The Alchemist’s Euphoria (August 5th)

We’re getting the ultimate euphoria thanks to Kasabian’s announcement of their seventh album, The Alchemist’s Euphoria! The title is so mysterious that it lures us in even more, and we can’t wait to meet this Alchemist character when we can finally hear the full record. The band’s latest single, the alluring ‘Scriptvre,’ is definitely keeping us fed through the summer. So turn it up and tell your friends all about it, because Kasabian is the kind of group you just need to spread the word about.

One thing about this record I feel over the other ones, is it definitely feels like a body of work that belongs together. It was a beautiful moment in mastering hearing it as a piece. I think it really holds up in our seven albums….The Magnificent Seven… It’s definitely music to make you feel like anything’s possible. And it feels really exciting because, like always, this band can go absolutely anywhere.

Pale Waves – Unwanted (August 12th)

Pale Waves have been delivering the standout alt-rock we’ve always dreamed of, and they take it to the next level on ‘Lies.’ Between the relatable half-confident, half-frustrated lyrics and the anthemic guitar riff, this track is already a staple on our playlists. If this is what they’re delivering right now, we can only imagine what mind-blowing gems they have in store for us on Unwanted, an album dedicated to everyone who feels like misfits and outcasts.

‘Lies’ is about someone who built up my trust and destroyed it like a wrecking ball. It caused trust issues for myself, but fortunately for me that person is no longer in my life. Once you do me wrong, you’re gone!

Frontwoman Heather Baron-Gracie

Death Cab For Cutie – Asphalt Meadows (September 16th)

Death Cab are taking us on a ride to Asphalt Meadows with their tenth studio album… yes, Album #10! The band has come so far over the years and it’s clear that the sky is the limit when it comes to finding new angles to their artistry. They gave us the best possible glimpse into the record with ‘Roman Candles,’ a slick-yet-eccentric alt-rock track that will drill its way into your head and your playlists within seconds. The lyrics are thoughtful and refreshing in classic Death Cab For Cutie fashion, and we can’t wait to hear what they’re preparing for us.

The [‘Roman Candles’] lyrics were cobbled from a couple of different songs dealing with my general sense of anxiety – the feeling that the fabric that weaves a functioning society together was crumbling during the pandemic.

Shygirl – Nymph (September 30th)

Hyperpop and alt-pop fans, this one’s for you! Shygirl is one of our favorite rising artists right now and she’s gearing up for her debut album with Nymph later this year. With Shygirl, you never know exactly what to expect, and that makes for a magical experience that will take you to another world. Her latest single, ‘Firefly,’ is making us more excited for this project than ever, and it makes us feel like we’re in some cool hidden hangout in Manhattan on a fun night out.

Yuna – Y5 (Throughout 2022)

If you’re anything like us at THP, you’re constantly blown away by anything Yuna offers us. And now she’s trailblazing in a new way – she’s releasing her Y5 album in five installments throughout this year! We just got the second part, Y2, and we’re stunned by all three songs she delivered. ‘Girl U Used 2 Know,’ ‘24 Hours,’ and ‘Make A Move’ have already become some of our favorite songs in her discography and we know she has a ton more in the vault for Y3, Y4, and Y5!

I discovered something new about myself… that I can produce. Now I don’t have to depend on anyone else for music — I can do things myself. I got really inspired by that. There’s something very powerful about being an independent artist.

AG Club – TBA (TBA)

While we don’t have a title or release date for AG Club’s upcoming debut album, we do have an incredible amount of hype and the amazing pre-release single ‘TRU RELIGION’ to enjoy in the meantime! AG Club stands for Avant Garde Club, and their music is just as unique as that name would suggest. It’s a slick fusion of all the best elements of pop, R&B, and rock, so there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
