If you’re an alt-pop fan, it’s only a matter of time until Gali Givon takes over your playlists. This future Israeli superstar brings a fun edge to every track she releases while still intertwining those pop sensibilities that make a song so catchy that it never leaves your head. And lucky for us, we just got two new songs from her, ‘Scared’ and ‘Lolita!’
Let’s start by taking a closer look at ‘Scared,’ which is dripping with confidence and topped off with powerful guitar riffs. The song feels almost scandalous in a way, with Gali owning up to her dark side and embracing it to its fullest potential. It’s simply cinematic… we need to see it soundtracking a movie soon!
‘Scared’ was written at a time when I felt like I had two very contradicting sides within me. The one being soft and empathic, and the other- borderline dangerous. It helped me accept what I’ve been feeling for a long time.

Speaking of movies, ‘Scared’ comes alongside a horror-themed music video full of creepy masks, pentagram-cut pizzas, a healthy dose of maniacal laughter, and an abandoned bus that gives us the same vibe as the one from season two of Stranger Things. Who at Netflix do we have to call to get this concept turned into a show?
On the softer side, but still delivering the sleek pop-rock we know and love Gali for, ‘Lolita’ moves into groovy pop territory while maintaining the eerie feel of ‘Scared’ with airy vocals. Melanie Martinez fans, this one is for you! The track sees Gali confronting someone who sees her as “less than” while insisting she’s not someone to mess with.
We could talk about these songs for hours, but if you’ll excuse us, we have to go add them to every playlist in our library. What do you think of ‘Scared’ and ‘Lolita?’ Which song do you prefer? Let us know in the comments below or hit us up on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter!
