Binge-Worthy Buzz: Coming In Hot For Another Week

binge-worthy buzz

Hi there, honeybees, how are you? We are back once again for this week’s Binge-Worthy Buzz, our series where we tell you all about the new shows and movies we know you’ll love. This week’s recommendations are:

Nah, we’re kidding, of course those aren’t the only recommendations we have for you. Let’s go through all of them, shall we?

Stranger Things

Look, we made a little joke at the beginning of the article but we are serious about one thing: Stranger Things deserves all the hype it’s getting for the new season. The storytelling is impeccable, the characters have matured a lot and have many struggles that are both true to their arcs and relatable to the audience, and the soundtrack is *chef’s kiss*.

But in case you haven’t had the chance to watch this Netflix masterpiece, we’ll give you a (spoiler-free) rundown. Set in the 1980s, Stranger Things has a group of middle school best friends as the main characters (who later grow up into high schoolers, but that’s for later). Their lives are only filled with school and games of Dungeons & Dragons until they come face to face with the fact that the rumors of their town being haunted may actually be fairly close to the truth.

The show mixes comedy, thriller, drama, and a little bit of romance. Each new season brings new mysteries, new characters we immediately get attached to, and new monsters the characters have to fight, including both real monsters and their own inner demons. We’ll stop here before this turns into a whole article about this one show, but we’re serious, you should 100% watch it.

Jurassic World Dominion

There’s a reason why the Jurassic Park and Jurassic World movies have been as successful as they have since the 90s: they are amazing! So it seems only fitting that the legendary saga would come to an end with both generations present, right? That’s what happens in Jurassic World Dominion. And we can’t wait to see our faves Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill, and Laura Dern back to this universe.

The movie, set to hit theaters on June 10, picks up four years after the destruction of Isla Nublar. And that means dinosaurs now live among humans, which is going surprisingly well at the beginning of the story. But because we know there’s no story unless issues happen, we’re left to wonder what will disturb the new balance established between the giant creatures from our past and the humans of the present.

Family Reboot

Disney+ is coming for us all this month! One of their latest announcements for June 15 is Family Reboot. In this original production, each episode will show a different family who got so busy with their own lives that they kind of forgot how to be a family.

During each of the six episodes, a different family is taken out of their busy schedules for a mini-vacation to reconnect with each other. With no distractions, no meetings, no phones, nothing. Just each other and their relationships.

And here’s the fun part: no phones means no internet. Which means their adventure starts with the family having to find their way to their accommodations for the week with a paper map. Once there, a Family Reboot guide spends the week leading the family through a week of activities to reboot their relationship. But what happens at the end of the week is solely up to each family.

A Taste of Hunger

Flying over to Denmark, we have A Taste of Hunger. This drama revolves around Carsten and Maggi, a power couple from the gourmet scene of Copenhagen. They run a popular restaurant in the city and business is going really well, but they still feel like there’s one thing missing: the famous Michelin star many restaurant owners are after.

Carsten and Maggi put everything into the dream of the Michelin star, and we mean everything. But like any recipe in the world, this one can also turn into a catastrophe if things go south. Especially when a seemingly perfect life with a good restaurant and two great kids may be put at risk. If this piqued your interest, the movie is available on Hulu.

American Underdog

There’s nothing like watching a good inspirational true story, is there? That’s why we’re talking about American Underdog today. The movie brings us the story of two-time NFL MVP Kurt Warner. Kurt was made to confront many obstacles and setbacks in his career, but that never truly stopped him. His is the kind of story that is so amazing that even people who aren’t football fans will definitely enjoy watching this on Hulu.

And in terms of performance, Zachary Levy does such a wonderful job as Kurt that we sometimes forget this is a movie and we’re not, in fact, watching real footage of Kurt Warner. And Anna Paquin also deserves all the compliments for her portrayal of Brenda, Kurt’s wife who has always been his number one supporter.

Don’t Forget the Lyrics

You know we had to end this week’s Binge-Worthy Buzz by combining our two favorite things: TV and music. Hulu’s latest musical game show is actually a new version of a show with the same name from the 2000s. This time, Niecy Nash takes on the role of host as a new set of contestants battle for the prize of $1 million.

But how does the show work, you ask? It’s fairly simple: each contestant has to sing a hit song with a live band and the lyrics on a screen. But suddenly the band will stop and the lyrics will disappear, but the contestant must keep singing in order to stay in the competition. This goes on for nine rounds until they’re presented with one final hit song, which can win them $1 million.

And this marks the end of this week’s Binge-Worthy Buzz, with the hottest new shows and movies for you! We hope you have lots of fun watching them and then tell us about it, of course. You can find us on TwitterFacebook, or Instagram. We’ll love to hear from you!

What’s that? Want more TV and movies in your life? Here you go!
