Since releasing her debut album, Stranger in the Alps, in 2017, Phoebe Bridgers has proven time and time again that she is the queen of the alternative genre. From beautiful features on songs such as Taylor Swift’s ‘Nothing New’ to her own flawless discography. Phoebe Bridgers simply never fails to understand the assignment, and her newest release, ‘Sidelines,’ proves that.
The song itself was written and recorded for the Conversations with Friends soundtrack, the new 12-part Hulu series based on a Sally Rooney novel of the same title. The series follows best friends Frances and Bobbi as they navigate love, affairs, and friendship with an older married celebrity couple. Prior to the announcement of the adaptation, Phoebe had already expressed her love and enjoyment of the novel, so her ability to perfectly capture its themes and nuances with her lyrics is not surprising.
The music video features a montage of behind-the-scenes clips from her ongoing Reunion Tour, mainly focusing on her band and her fans rather than Phoebe herself. While the song may be for a TV soundtrack, this use of behind-the-scenes footage from the tour makes the song feel quite personal and creates a very intimate atmosphere. However, the video definitely makes all of us at THP want our own skeleton onesies, and we can’t promise that we don’t have them in our online shopping carts right now.

While the video was just recently released, Phoebe actually debuted the song at her Coachella set last month. You can catch her performing the track on June 15th on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and on the following day, Phoebe will round up the North American leg of the Reunion Tour at Forest Hills Stadium
As well as the rest of her US tour, Phoebe will also be hopping across the pond to play her first UK and EU shows since the pandemic. She will also be supporting The Rolling Stones at their Hyde Park show on June 25th. Honestly, Pheobe fans are being well fed. We have no choice but to stan.
At her upcoming shows, Phoebe will be joined by Muna, Charlie Hickey, and Claud, with each supporting her at different points of the tour. Tickets to Phoebe’s upcoming shows are still available, so see if she is coming to a city near you below!
