Many of us met Jenna McDougall as the fearless frontwoman of the Australian pop-punk band Tonight Alive, where she provided us with anthems like ‘Lonely Girl’ and ‘Breaking and Entering.’ Through these tracks, McDougall has always championed self-empowerment and emotional freedom—one of the many reasons why she’s one of our fav pop-punk queens.
Fast forward to 2022, the well-known pop-punk singer is making her return to the music scene but not as Jenna McDougall of Tonight Alive, but as Hevenshe. The new solo project is an extension of who McDougall has grown into over the past few years. While the new project is a departure from her pop-punk roots in Tonight Alive, but still shares messages of self-empowerment and emotional freedom.
There’s an element of limitation to being in a band. When Tonight Alive decided to go on hiatus, I was immediately trying to write my own songs and develop something new, without even really knowing or believing that I could. I felt blocked by my expectations and eventually had to surrender what I wanted this project to be. From that place I was able to find my authentic sound. Hevenshe literally feels like what my voice is made for.

Tonight Alive fans, we know you may be thinking, “well, what about the band?”; don’t worry because they’re not going anywhere.
The birth of Hevenshe is not the death of Tonight Alive.

McDougall Finds Her Sound As Hevenshe
In Tonight Alive, McDougall created explosive pop-punk tracks, and as Hevenshe, she’s found her sound as an artist. In her debut single ‘No One Will Ever Love You,’ McDougall takes a classic rock-inspired route that compliments her powerful vocals.
The first track from Hevenshe truly allows the Australian singer to shine in her element, and we can’t get enough of it. ‘No One Will Ever Love You’ is all about reminiscing on a past relationship and wishing the best for them, even if things ended badly. The entire track feels cathartic, bringing out every emotion from whoever listens to it.
In the music video, all the focus is on McDougall—and we’re not complaining. The singer is front and center as she rocks out on a stage, happy to be singing and playing guitar. As Hevenshe, McDougall is glowing with happiness and positive energy, and we can see her evolution as an artist.
We can’t wait to see what else McDougall releases as Hevenshe! For now, we’ll be streaming ‘No One Will Ever Love You,’ and you should too!
