Honestly, we were amazed by the beautiful production and lyrical composition of the three new songs on this album, but we expected nothing less from such talented artists. This award-winning group DID NOT disappoint. Now, without further ado, let’s dive into this album!
‘Yet To Come’
Listen, this lead single was *chef’s kiss*. The angelic vocals, the music video, the color-coordinated outfits, the visuals, and the references to their past tracks were all nicely tied together. We don’t know if you were able to find all the references, but we noticed hits like ‘Spring Day,’ ‘Blood, Sweat & Tears,’ ‘No More Dream,’ were included. We simply can’t explain how GENIUS the music video was. It really captured the vibe of ‘Yet To Come’ and beautifully depicted the message behind it.
This mid-tempo track definitely reminded us of the HYYH era, except in this comeback, we saw a more mature version of BTS who has grown as artists and come a long way despite the challenges they have come across throughout their career. Needless to say, their “best is what comes next,” and we can’t wait to see what they accomplish.
Not to be biased, BUT this is THE song of the year! Run (haha, get it?) to your parents, grandparents, siblings, co-workers, and friends, and tell them to listen to this absolute masterpiece. This song instantly drew us in within the first 20 seconds with its EXTREMELY addictive beat. All of a sudden, we felt motivated to exercise, run some errands, and be productive because we had to release our energy somehow. We felt like we were on top of the world! How did BTS expect us to contain our excitement with this boost of serotonin they gave us?
On top of that, can we take a moment to appreciate some of the lyrics? “Jiminie, V, hard work. Namjoonie, Hope, hard work. Yoongi hyung, Jin, hard work. Jungkookie, everyone, so thanks.” This is literally BTS’ hype song, and it’s ICONIC. Don’t be surprised if this song is on our Spotify Wrapped by the end of the year, we warned you.
If you see us crying to this song, no, you didn’t. ‘For Youth’ has healed us, made the sun shine a little brighter, and made us love BTS even more. We know how much BTS genuinely cares for their fans and the fact that they included ARMY singing along to ‘Epilogue: Young Forever’ with them made us very emotional, especially with the gorgeous piano melodies embedded in the track! They even said, “You’re my best friend for the rest of my life,” which further highlights the strong bond between BTS and ARMY. They formed a part of our youth, and they formed a part of ours, and we are absolutely proud of how far they have come.
Bonus Track: ‘Quotation Mark’
Surprise, there’s one more song we’d like to mention, and that is ‘Quotation Mark.’ This track has such a nice melody that makes us move to the beat and instantly puts a smile on our faces. Not to mention, we love the wordplay they use for the theme of the song, which is about love and relationships. We probably won’t be able to think of punctuation the same way after listening to this song, haha, especially with the lyric “I thought it would be a period for our relationship, so I just put a comma.”
And that’s a wrap! We hope you loved BTS’ anthology album as much as we did because there are multiple demo versions we would have liked to cover, such as ‘Epiphany,’ ‘Spring Day,’ ‘DNA,’ and several others. Proof truly is one of their best comebacks and one for the books. It beautifully encapsulated the nine years of hard work, dedication, perseverance, and challenges they’ve overcome.
We truly cannot express enough how proud we are to be a part of their journey, see them grow as artists, and see them become more and more confident in themselves. They have faced discrimination in the industry and been criticized by the media, but despite all of that, BTS managed to succeed while still remaining humble. They are truly a force to be reckoned with.
In the words of Jin, “… I am ARMY and ARMY are me- we’ve assimilated into one.” Thank you, BTS for taking ARMY with you on this beautiful, nostalgic nine-year journey.
