The music world was shocked on March 25, 2022, with the announcement of the death of Taylor Hawkins, the long-time member of legendary rock band Foo Fighters. Following the tragedy, the band canceled all upcoming tour dates to give the band and Hawkins’ family privacy. Taylor was a certified music legend, having performed with the band since 1997 – his FF journey started when he accompanied them on their tour promoting their second album, The Colour & The Shape. His first recorded Foo Fighters album was There Is Nothing Left To Lose, which they released in 1999. He received 15 GRAMMY awards with the band as well as an induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
But even though Taylor isn’t with us anymore, his legacy will carry on forever. Here are some ways artists have paid homage to his talent and work!
This past month, the Foo Fighters and the late drummer’s family announced that they’re curating two tribute concerts in his memory. The TAYLOR HAWKINS TRIBUTE CONCERTS are scheduled to take place on September 3rd, 2022 at Wembley Stadium in London, and September 27th, 2022 at The Kia Forum in Los Angeles. While lineups have yet to be announced, the band and Taylor Hawkins’ family have stated that the tribute concerts will include his beloved bandmates and peers, performing both his favorite songs and ones that he produced with the band during his time with them.

Billie Eilish’s GRAMMY Performance
Among the countless tributes that poured in for Taylor Hawkins after his untimely passing was Billie Eilish’s iconic 2022 Grammy performance. She performed her hit song ‘Happier Than Ever’ alongside her brother Finneas on guitar, backed by thunder, lightning, and rain. Her oversized t-shirt had a picture of Hawkins on the front, seen by millions around the world. It was an understated tribute that still paid respect to the music icon and showed how much Billie admires and misses him.
Performing in His Memory
Fellow rock band Greta Van Fleet found a way to pay tribute to Hawkins, as well. They were scheduled to open for Foo Fighters on their worldwide tour during their show in Berlin. After the announcement of the tour cancellation, they scheduled a headlining show for the same day that was in honor of Taylor. Fellow drummer Danny Wagner showcased a hawk logo on his drum set during the show as a way to honor his late friend and inspiration.
Although his loss was a shock to the music world, these artists and more are keeping his memory alive in beautiful ways. Tell us your favorite tribute to Taylor or who you hope to see included in the tribute concert lineup in the comments below or via Twitter, @thehoneypop!
