Icons Update: We’re Spoilt For Choice With These Records!

We’ve got the old, we’ve got the new, it’s a big Icons Update today! Whether you’re looking to cop your favorite classics on vinyl or experience the power of a true superstar on stage, you’re going to want to keep reading! There are so many incredible releases this week that we had to do a round-up to make sure you were in the loop. From Bananarama to Rod Stewart, we have so much to cover! Let’s go!

We’re Obsessed With Bananarama

One of our favorite-ever duos, Bananarama is back with a brand new single! It’s everything you would expect from Bananarama, harmonies, a catchy and danceable rhythm, and thoughtful lyrics. Half of Bananarama, Sara Dallin said the track was written in lockdown, and discussions of diversity, inclusivity, and equality gave her the idea for ‘Masquerade.’ The song encourages you to be exactly who you want to be and that you are C’est Magnifique. We love a bit of positivity and empowerment!

You can stream the title track from their upcoming album Masquerade right now! We can’t wait to hear the full-length album on July 22nd! Until then, go out and show the world the wonderful person you are. Every day deserves to be a celebration of YOU! Preferably with Bananarama as the soundtrack.

Peter Gabriel Goes Orchestral

We adore Peter Gabriel‘s live album, Live Blood, so we couldn’t be happier it’s getting a re-release. In honor of June Record Store Day, we’re getting the live orchestral masterpiece pressed on vinyl. We also love that Peter has kept a keen eye for detail and consistent aesthetics, the vinyl will be blood red. The consistency and commitment have been noted and we’re here for it! We’re just itching to get our hands on it!

The album features reworked versions of so many of his classics such as ‘The Boy In The Bubble,’ ‘The Book Of Love,’ and ‘Don’t Give Up.’ Although we could listen to the digital versions on repeat there is just something so special about the sound and quality of Vinyl.

Rod Stewart’s Touching Tribute

The musical legend that is Rod Stewart has released a touching tribute to his late father called ‘Touchline.’ The song speaks about his love and appreciation for his father and his love for football. It’s a very sweet song and it’s got us a bit choked up. Rod is also putting on a very special show in Edinburgh to honor his late dad in November, so keep an eye out for details of that intimate show!

It’s not the only opportunity to see Rod though, he’s going to be out on tour across the UK and US later this year. In a really lovely gesture, a number of tickets for each Rod Stewart show will be donated to NHS staff, Doctors, and healthcare workers who have been on the frontlines of the pandemic. It’s so nice to see people giving back. If you want to get yourself a ticket to see Rod on tour just click here!
