Okay yes, perhaps you’re wondering what Antumbra means, but we have an answer for that. Or rather, Grayscale does, on their Instagram.
“The part of the Moon’s shadow that extends beyond the umbra.” If you look at it that way, naming this 3-song EP Antumbra is apt considering it’s a follow up to their majorly successful album Umbra, which released last year. It was one of our favorites from 2021 so finding out that we’re getting reimagined versions of some of our favorite Umbra tracks really made our week. That’s right folks, with Antumbra, Grayscale will be bringing us reimagined versions of ‘Dirty Bombs,’ ‘Dreamcatcher,’ and ‘Over Now,’ (which, in our opinion, is one of Umbra’s best songs). We can’t wait to hear what these versions sound like because Grayscale always delivers.
And we have to take another moment to applaud the creativity of the EP title because we’re still not over that. The Umbra era brought us amazing concepts, visuals, and merch, and we have a feeling Antumbra will be in a league all its own. Grayscale really knows how to create a theme and a narrative, so we’re hyped to see what’s in store. That photo on their IG, which is multiple shots layered on top of each other, has us ready for whatever comes next for the visuals with this EP.
In parting, we leave you this.
We’ll have these songs on repeat (as if we haven’t already) while we wait for the release of Antumbra on July 22nd. Oh and bonus? You can catch Grayscale on The Summer Dreams Tour starting this month. You can find more info on their website, linked below.
