We don’t know about you, but we remember seeing Conan Gray’s songs trending on TikTok not too long ago. ‘Heather’ was, and still is, one of our favorite songs. Fast forward to now, this talented artist’s latest album, Superache, is the second Top 10 Album on Billboard 200! However, this is no surprise given that he has an incredible voice and is a relatable Gen Z icon. If you were to ask us who our spirit animal is, our answer would be Conan lol.
For those of you who haven’t streamed his hit album, don’t worry, we got you! Here are four relatable song lyrics from Superache that will make you love Conan’s music as much as we do.
Alright, let’s go! Grab your tissue box, snacks, and blanket because the raw, vulnerable emotions exhibited in each one of Conan’s songs are guaranteed to make you tear up and cry.
“I want a love like the movies…” – ‘Movies’
We’re sure most of us have romanticized our lives to make them more interesting, to make them more like the picture-perfect scenes we see in movies. Well, ‘Movies’ is about that; wanting a lovely, romantic relationship with a significant other but knowing that real life isn’t like what we see on TV. If you’re a hopeless romantic, we recommend listening to this sweet-sounding song and following up with ‘People Watching.’
“…all I really wanted was that look in your eyes…” – ‘Yours’
Romantic relationships can be difficult, a ‘Disaster’ if you will. Have you ever been in a one-sided relationship where you love someone so much but they don’t feel the same way no matter how much effort you put in or how hard you try?
Unfortunately, we don’t get to choose who we fall for, sometimes it just happens. If you’re in this situation, ‘Yours’ may be able to help you process the feelings that come with the heartache you may be going through.
“Feels like we had matching wounds. But mine’s still black and bruised…” – ‘The Exit’
Imagine breaking up with someone and then seeing them with a new lover doing better emotionally while you’re still hurting. It can be upsetting to see someone you still love move on quicker than you; it’s heartbreaking. But, at the same time, you’ll learn from the experience and eventually find ‘The Exit’ and heal.
“Scattered ‘cross my family line. I’m so good at telling lies…” – ‘Family Line’
Let’s stray away from love and romance for a minute because ‘Family Line’ is a beautifully written song with such a meaningful message. This song talks about growing up in a dysfunctional family, processing such experiences, and learning to accept it as a part of who you are. Personally, we think this is one of Conan’s best tracks; it’s not often that you hear songs that talk about the complexities of family dynamics.
For those of you who may be going through or have gone through issues dealing with family, we want to be mindful of that and suggest skipping this track if you’re not ready.
Whew! Talk about a Superache. We’ll have to buy more tissues after writing this article. We hope you enjoyed reading these lyrics from Conan’s album because it truly is one of the best ones we’ve heard this year. It’s very raw, genuine, and vulnerable, and we appreciate Conan for being so open in this album with us. He does a wonderful job making us hopeless romantics feel identified with his music, and we can’t wait to see him continue to break records.
If you love Superache, don’t forget that Conan Gray will be going on a world tour, which starts in September! Who’s going?! Be sure to let us know by tweeting us at @thehoneypop. If you’d like to read more about Conan Gray, which we know you do, click here.
