There are so many summery tracks out there at the moment. We’ve got 4 new songs to add to your playlists that’ll help you soak up the sun and all the good vibes. It’s all about summer 2022 baby and we’ve got you covered. Whether it’s a throwback to everyone’s fave Sean Kingston or discovering a brand new artist to fall in love with, take a listen to these tracks!
Sean Kingston – ‘Rihanna (Umbrella)’
Sean is bringing the summer sauce with this Afro-Beat and Reggae Pop fusion track. With his upcoming album Road to Deliverance, he’s really taking inspiration from his roots and supporting African and Island-based artists. ‘Rihanna (Umbrella)’ is a collaboration with producer Ape Drums who you might recognize as 1/3 of electronic dance music legends Major Lazer. This track has got us wanting to get up and dance. It’s mentally transported us to a beach with an ice-cold drink in our hand. The good vibes are flowing!
We are loving this vibe and can’t wait to hear more of the album which is set to come out later this year! We also love a lil reference miss RiRi! Sean Kingston has been an iconic artist for years and is one of the kings of summer songs! If you want to catch the good energy IRL you can catch Sean on his US tour that has just kicked off. AR/CO – ‘Call Me By My Name’
Speaking of internationally influenced artists… if you haven’t already gotten acquainted let us introduce you to AR/CO. The duo is comprised of Mali-Koa who was born in Australia and has Maori heritage, and British artist Leo Stannard who has Trinidadian roots. The two have teamed up to form electro duo AR/CO who have just released their official debut single ‘Call Me By My Name.’ It’s infectious and was made to be played so loud you can feel it pulsing through your body. It’s the pinnacle summer song so turn it up!
‘Call Me By My Name’ was our slice of pure escapism. Reality was we were sitting round thinking how amazing it’d be to be able to get the tube, go for a Tesco run or be in a crowd again. It was us saying “go tell the people you love, that you love them! Be loud, be present, loosen up and be free.” It’s perfect timing, where we can all experience those feelings of fun and freedom in our lives again

Catie Turner – ‘Step Mom’
This one made us giggle, a lot. We love Catie and her fun and fresh approach to songwriting and this one took it to the next level. Catie has been playing the song on her tour with Léon so the fans have been dying to hear this one for a while. Now we finally can! In this track, Catie is getting the ultimate revenge on an ex by stealing his dad. We love this energy. It’s so chaotic and we’re here for it.
The hilarious summery song comes with an equally charming lyric video. We just love everything about this release to be honest. Fellas, watch out if you break Catie‘s heart. You’ve been warned. Hide your dads.
Alyssa Reid – ‘When It Hurts’
Want to feel the summer vibe but you’re in your heartbreak era? Don’t worry, we won’t leave you out! Alyssa’s got your back. This is the song for a hot girl summer playlist. We’re so glad that Alyssa Reid is back and releasing her own material again, and this time not under her pseudonym ASHS (Though we did love those releases too!) We love the songs she’s penned for artists like Alessia Cara but it’s always fun to hear artists coming into their own sound and having fun with it.
If you’re new to Alyssa, we think she’d fit right into your stan list if you’re a fan of artists like Tove Lo, Bebe Rexha, and Cher Lloyd! All queens over here serving bad b energy! We really hope this song blows up this summer as we are really vibing to it at the moment. Welcome back Alyssa!
