FLO Has The Lead As Our New Favorite Thing!

Hailing from London, girl group FLO is a trio that we can’t get enough of. Their debut EP The Lead is finally here, and it’s everything we hoped for and more.

With praise from so many of our faves like Leigh-Anne Pinnock, JoJo, Victoria Monet, and even the legendary Missy Elliott, these girls are set to skyrocket to R&B greatness. So trust us, you want to join the fun now!

Members Stella, Jorja, and Renée are creating captivating harmonies and hooks that stick in your head for days. It’s the golden days of 90s and 00s girl groups like Destiny’s Child and TLC in the modern era, with the spice of Little Mix and something that’s all FLO’s own.

“We are young Black women navigating life and musicians finding our voice and sound through R&B. Pop means popular, and R&B could be pop, but people need to give it the same love and chance.”

FLO released The Lead on July 8, 2022, featuring five tracks we cannot stop playing across THP HQ. Plus, the girls released a new music video for the single ‘Immature.’

“The Lead shows us that positive things can come from tough conversations, and reminds us to take the lead and not follow anyone else when making decisions on your relationships and listening to your truth,” the group said of their debut project.

‘Cardboard Box’

The EP’s opener has over five million streams on Spotify and has become a viral hit. And it’s extra special because it’s the first song the girls wrote together as a unit.

The minute we heard this song we had to have it on our bad b**** playlists!

The newest single from FLO is a track that feels like it time-traveled from Timbaland’s peak and dipped into 2022 sleekness. It’s sultry and tight, and it reiterates the fact that these girls are it.

This seasonal bop is everything we needed for a sizzling summer. The beat makes us want to dance while simultaneously creating an essence of breeziness that’s perfect for the song’s namesake season.

‘Feature Me’

This bop is giving us old school Aaliyah vibes mixed with new school Kehlani, and it’s absolutely addictive. The vocals are slick and buttery, and the harmonies are crisp. This one’ll have you hitting repeat on your phone for one more replay of the shimmering chorus.

‘Another Guy – Acoustic’

This acoustic closer allows the girls to really go out on a high note as they’re able to showcase their impressive vocal abilities. It’s clear that all the girls in this group can hold their own and bring ethereal vocals to their music. It makes us wanna sing along all day.

FLO has been touted as the “R&B girl group we never knew we needed,” but as fans, we knew we needed a new group to carry on the legacies of the greats and FLO has what it takes. We definitely manifested this moment and we can’t wait to watch these girls soar!

If this is where R&B is going we are sat.
