We don’t know about you, but at THP we consider ourselves to be girl-group stans first and human beings second. So, when FLO first came into the music scene, they definitely piqued our interest. The group first came to the world’s attention with their debut single ‘Cardboard Box,’ gaining them praise and recognition from huge artists such as Jade Thirwall, SZA, and Missy Elliott. The song showcased the three-piece’s vocal abilities and signature R&B style perfectly and we at THP have been waiting for more music from them ever since.
Well, the wait is finally over as the girls have once again blessed our ears with their newest release, ‘Immature.’ But, before we go into discussing the masterpiece that is their newest single, let us introduce you to the group that we can confidently call Gen-Z’s answer to Destiny’s Child.
Who Are FLO?
FLO is a British R&B girl group and is made up of three members; Stella Quaresma, Jorja Douglas, and Renee Downer. Renee and Stella first met in London while they were at school before later meeting Jorja at an audition, where the three girls instantly knew that they had to work together.
As we mentioned earlier, the girls saw great success pretty early on in their career with their single ‘Cardboard Box,’ peaking at second place on the Viral Spotify UK Chart and garnering an impressive 2.7 million views on YouTube. Honestly, if you haven’t heard ‘Cardboard Box’ yet then, quite frankly, you’re doing something wrong. Stream ‘Cardboard Box’ for clear skin!
New Single ‘Immature’ And The Lead EP
Produced by MNEK, the girl’s newest single, ‘Immature,’ draws on a similar throwback R&B style to their debut single and discusses themes of empowerment and strength in relationships. While it has only been out for a day, we at THP are already obsessed with this new release. Stream it right here!

Combining metallic beats with FLO’s addictive and flawless harmonies, ‘Immature’ is an earworm that you’re simply not going to want to get out of your head. When discussing the song, the girls stated:
‘Immature’ is about being strong and confident in yourself and we really don’t have time for someone being immature. It’s ok for you to tell a partner, “You’re not giving me what I want and you say you want my body, but you aren’t doing anything about it!” It’s our more grown up record and the next phase of the story to ‘Cardboard Box.’ We had to dump them in ‘Cardboard Box,’ but this is about why it was necessary.
As well as ‘Immature’ the three-piece have also released their first EP, The Lead. The EP features both ‘Immature’ and ‘Cardboard Box’ as well as three more new tracks that we at THP simply adore. See the full track list below:
- ‘Cardboard Box’
- ‘Immature’
- ‘Summertime’
- ‘Feature Me’
- ‘Another Guy (Acoustic)’
The Lead blends together R&B slow jams, neo-soul, and a variety of other influences to create a highly enjoyable and loopable body of work. While this is only their first EP, we at THP are sure that FLO have a bright future ahead of them and we cannot wait to see what they do next. Make sure you’re streaming The Lead right here!
