For The Girls: New Music From Maggie Lindemann, Kelsea Ballerini, And More!

It’s a big week for the girls and the gays because all of our favorite girls across genres have released some truly top tier new music!

From Maggie Lindemann’s punk edge to Kelsea Ballerini’s sweet pop-country to Grace VanderWaal’s indie, this week’s new music encompasses everything we love.

Maggie Lindemann

The fourth single from Maggie’s upcoming debut full-length album SUCKERPUNCH is another scathing banger.

I don’t hate you, I don’t care like that / Do you kiss your mother with a mouth like that? / I’m starrin’ in your movie / But you’re not that special to me,” she sings in her signature sweet voice with a sour edge.

Plus, she released the music video along with the single, inspired by Quentin Tarantino’s 2007 film Death Proof. The music video depicts Maggie and friends confronting a creepy stalker, sending an empowering message to women backed by a banger of a soundtrack.

“With ‘you’re not special,’ I wanted the song to make a statement. Everyone has had to deal with someone in their lives who is two-faced—so kind to your face and mean behind your back. There’s always going to be someone judging you or hoping to see you fail, but rather than let those people get under your skin—keep doing you and pursuing your dreams.”

Grace VanderWaal

Grace is back with her most vulnerable, grown-up track yet. And we’re in love!

The lyrics describe the feeling of searching for yourself and your youth: “I’m human / and I’m falling / but you tell me / I’m flying / but it’s building and I can’t breathe / wanna feel the way that I used to be.

The hypnotic repetition of “dancing in the lion’s den” is captivating and pulls us into Grace’s new world, and we are giving our full attention. Her famous rasp is still present, but this is a whole new Grace and she’s got so many stories to tell.

“I feel more unfiltered and vulnerable than I’ve ever been before. I feel like I’m at a point where I really want to invite my fans into my world of stories that I’ve never talked about and show them my experiences growing up in the spotlight.”

Ellie Goulding

‘Easy Lover’ featuring Big Sean is a glittering track that showcases everything we love about Ellie Goulding. It’s catchy and fun, and shimmers over dreamy harmonies and shiny production.

“I wrote ‘Easy Lover’ in LA with Julia Michaels after conversations about the age-old tale of being infatuated by someone cool and beautiful knowing that they will never quite feel the same,” Ellie said about the song.

Bella Poarch

The whimsical, off-beat ‘Dolls’ is Bella Poarch’s latest and sets us up for her debut EP of the same name, Dolls.

If you haven’t watched the music video yet, run, don’t walk, because it’s a blockbuster movie shrunk down to music video size with all of its action and bravado. The concept was created by Bella herself, and features cameos from Bretman Rock, Chloe Cherry, Madison Beer, Grimes, and more familiar faces.

Not only that, but the message behind the song makes it all the more enchanting.

“‘Dolls’ is all about self-empowerment and confidence. It’s a follow up to my song ‘Build A B*tch’ but it stands out on its own as well by being gentle but fierce, beautiful but deadly. The importance of helping one another while also not letting anyone make you feel weak or worthless.”

Kelsea Ballerini

Last but not least, our country-pop queen Kelsea released the second taste of her fourth studio album, Subject to Change.

‘Love Is A Cowboy’ is a low-key, sentimental track that lets Kelsea’s trademark sincerity and vivid imagery shine through her lyrics. The music video sees her amid a beautiful sunset and golden fields, and sets the tone for the true-to-country tune that features a callback to LeAnn Rimes’ famous ‘Blue’ in its bridge.

It makes your heart feel like wild horses in your chest / trying to catch it’s like trying to tame the wild, wild west / it’s reckless and rugged / it’s sweet and it’s stubborn,” she sings.
