Have you ever witnessed your friend completely lose themselves when they’re in a relationship with someone lame, but then something magical happens: it all ends and you get your bestie back to their old selves again? If so, this bop of the summer is just for you and your bestie to scream the lyrics to! Olivia O’Brien and FLETCHER just delivered their first-ever collab with ‘B*tch Back,’ and we’re in love.
“I wrote this song after one of my best friends went through a breakup,” Olivia says of the new single. “I wanted to remind her of how much fun we had together when we were both single and get her out of that breakup funk. It’s a fun, carefree, and empowering song about having fun with your girls no matter what you may be down about.”
O’Brien Is Bringing Back Y2K, Too!
Not only does Olivia have her ‘B*tch Back,’ but she also is a massive reason the electrifying Y2K sound and iconic style is back, too! ‘B*tch Back’ reminds us a lot of the early 2000’s and that’s exactly what Olivia O’Brien has been shooting for. O’Brien grew up on Y2K artists her whole life and you can really feel the energy with the new single.
This single is just another absolute smash hit for Olivia O’Brien. She’s been achieving incredible things over the last few years. First, her debut self-composed single ‘i hate u i love u’ featuring gnash, then her R&B pop album Was It Even Real, and most recently, her track ‘Josslyn’ has gone viral on TikTok, causing her to now have over 2.3 billion artist streams on Spotify.
A New Sound For FLETCHER?
‘B*tch Back’ is a lot different than what we usually hear from FLETCHER. We’re used to hearing an alternative chill pop sound from FLETCHER, but this time, she delivered an incredible and upbeat girly pop sound with Olivia O’Brien. We were completely blown away with how well FLETCHER is able to excel in any sub-genre of pop music. Get you a girl that can do both!
A Must-Watch Music Video
The ‘B*tch Back’ music video was the biggest breath of fresh air. There is something so comforting about seeing girlies just having a good time, dancing the night away, eating Big Macs, and of course drinking. The setting of the music video for ‘Bitch Back’ takes place at a few neat bars but most notable, the notorious Coyote Ugly in Nashville. After seeing FLETCHER and Olivia O’Brien in their girls’ night out, post-breakup music video, all we wanted to do was join their friend group!
If it couldn’t be more obvious, we found our bop of the summer, but we want to hear from you! Let us know your thoughts on ‘B*tch Back’ and share a story with us about the reason you can relate to this song in the comments below or on Twitter or Instagram.
