If you’re anything like us at THP, you could talk about how incredible Kim Minjeong, better known as Winter of aespa, is all day. We’ve adored her since we saw her first ‘Black Mamba’ teaser photo, and we’ve only grown to love her even more over the years! Let’s delve into some of the reasons why…
Her Busan Accent
Of course, we couldn’t make this list without including Winter’s adorable satoori, or dialect! Winter grew up in Busan, so she sometimes speaks a different version of Korean than the other members, and she often does so with the cutest high voice. Our favorite example might just be from behind-the-scenes of the ‘Life’s Too Short’ music video, where she was talking about how the ears on her bunny hat had to stand up so it didn’t look like she was out of energy.
Her Duality
It’s no secret that Winter is just one of the cutest, most sunshine-y idols in K-Pop! But from softer concepts like ‘Forever’ and ‘Life’s Too Short’ to darker ones like ‘Girls’ and ‘Black Mamba,’ she nails every area of the spectrum. Is there anything she can’t pull off? We think not.
How She Lights Up A Stage
Winter’s stage presence is on the ‘Next Level!’ Whenever aespa are performing, she matches the vibe of the track so well. Watch this ‘Illusion’ performance for proof – she keeps her facial expressions stern for most of the song to match the tough energy, but still smirks on certain lines to show her sassy side. And when it comes to choreography, she nails the timing and fluidity.

Winter has been working so passionately since aespa debuted with ‘Black Mamba’ in 2020, and we’re so proud of all her accomplishments so far! She’s a lead vocalist and dancer in aespa, debuted as the maknae of the GOT The Beat supergroup in early 2022, and has put her all into both her music and her promotions.
