Have you ever wondered what makes K-pop songs so addictive and how it has come to be such a popular genre? Well, part of it is due to the fact that some K-pop songs are influenced by other genres, such as Latin music – reggaeton, salsa, Latin pop, cumbia, you name it. There’s bound to be a sprinkle of Latin influence. Latin songs tend to have a rhythm that’s catchy yet seductive, just listen to ‘Airplane pt.2’ by BTS and ‘Filter’ by BTS’ Jimin. If you love these two songs, then you’ll also love these 8 K-pop songs that feature Latin artists!
‘Chicken Noodle Soup’ – J-Hope, Becky G
Starting off strong we have the iconic friend duo that performed ‘Chicken Noodle Soup’ at this year’s Lollapalooza for the first time. It’s a fun song to listen to, and Becky’s verse will leave you feeling very empowered – we know we were. Their raps also flow smoothly, so it’s no surprise that this song is a THP favorite. Their outfits in the music video are also amazing!
‘Ice Cream’ – BLACKPINK, Selena Gomez
Five queens in one song together? You don’t have to give us more info to convince us to stream this song. The music video is aesthetically pleasing, has a nice mixture of pastel colors, and the vocals of Jennie, Rosé, Jisoo, and Selena combined with Lisa’s rap? A power move if you ask us.
‘Magnetic’ – Monsta X. Sebastian Yatra
Just like the rest of Monsta X’s songs, we’re ‘Addicted’ to this Spanglish masterpiece! Besides creating such a ‘Magnetic’ song, they also released a creative music video to go along with it with what appears to be cool paper animations. Now the real question is: When will we get to hear Monsta X and Sebastian perform this song live?
‘Yummy Yummy Love’ – MOMOLAND, Natti Natasha
We have one word for this collab: “Wow!” Where can we sign up to be a part of the remix? Not to mention the disco concept with the inclusion of the roller rink; it perfectly matched the vibe of the song. We also loved that Natti was included in the choreography! It was a nice addition and they all seemed to have a great time.
‘Give me more (Un Poco Mas)’ – VAV, De La Ghetto, Play-N-Skillz
Señoras y señores, this song is a must on your Latin music playlist! Just watch the music video and see for yourself; we felt very tempted to throw a beach party with colorful lights after watching it. VAV definitely needs to release un poco más de Latin music soon.
‘Bet You Wanna’ – BLACKPINK, Cardi B
We ‘Bet You Wanna’ see BLACKPINK release a music video featuring Cardi because this song is *chef’s kiss*. The vocals and the harmonies are incredible! And the high notes with Cardi’s rap?! We need to start a petition to make this happen because it’s a need, not a want.
‘SG’ – DJ Snake, Ozuna, Megan Thee Stallion, LISA
You’re telling us Latin, rap, and K-pop superstar talents all come together for a collab? That’s a major flex! Everything about the music video was amazing – the night life theme, the outfits, the choreo. It’s a shame we can’t sing or rap because we would have loved to be included in this upbeat song.
‘Demente’ – CHUNG HA, Guaynaa
You’re ‘Demente’ if you don’t think this is a good song – we don’t make the rules. Also, can we also take a moment to appreciate CHUNG HA singing in Spanish with Guaynaa? She did a wonderful job, but that’s no surprise! Now we’re just waiting for her to drop a mini album with a few songs in Spanish included.
Whew! That was a lot, but we hope you were able to find new songs to add to your playlist. To all our K-pop and Latinx stans, we hope you enjoyed reading this piece because collabs with K-pop artists and Latin artists never disappoint!
