We at THP have this insane obsession with smaller artists. The thrill of coming across these hidden gems is like no other and Fab The Duo is just one of these artists! Fab The Duo is a queer alt-rock duo based out of the City of Angels. They have just released their debut album Mascara Revolution and if it’s a revolution they want, it’s a revolution we’ll give them!
FAB = Fierce A*s B*tches
When most people hear “Fab,” they think of fabulous, but for Fab The Duo it means “Fierce A*s B*tche”s and that’s exactly what they are. One of Fab The Duo’s most important messages to their fans is to be you, nothing more, nothing less, and what’s more fierce than that?
Fab The Duo, though small, has never been underestimated and now is not the time to start. Mascara revolution is a 10-song album that will almost immediately have you feeling energized. Apart from the high-energy vocals throughout this album, there’s also a high-energy message.
The intro song to Mascara Revolution is like stepping into a new world. Also called ‘Found,’ this song is exactly like the title. ‘Intro/Found’ is a hard-hitting anthemic track perfect for showing the old you that you’ve found yourself!
‘Where Are We Going?’
On the other side of Mascara Revolution, the closing track ‘Where Are We Going?’ gives us hope for the future however unknown it may be. ‘Where Are We Going?’ emanates very personal energy with its almost acoustic sounds. This track is a comforting hug telling you to keep going no matter what, because though we might not know where we’re going, we can only hope for it to be better than this.
Throughout the 33 minutes and 29 seconds of Mascara Revolution, you’ll not only hear addictive lyrics and head-bopping sonics, but you’ll hear songs about mental health, gender identity, sexual assault, and more. These topics are hard for many people to talk about, but Fab The Duo understands the importance behind them as they send revolutionary ripples through the world.
Mascara Revolution is more than an album, it’s a book of messages. Messages of hope, resilience, acceptance, and diversity. So, calling all Fabbits: it’s time to get your positivity out, ’cause our kings have issued a new royal decree. Greg and Brendan are at the forefront of diversifying the alt scene and the music industry as a whole.
