Our Picks For Ed Sheeran’s Pokémon Team, To Celebrate ‘Celestial!’

It’s no secret that Ed Sheeran has loved Pokémon since the very beginning of the franchise, so what better way to honor the amazing video game world than by creating a song featuring his favorite pixel friends? ‘Celestial‘ is such a fun song, and the music video is so adorable! We assembled Ed’s Pokémon team after listening to this song on repeat. Ed, we hope you thank us later for our winning picks!

Before we list our picks, here are the rules we have followed to create Ed‘s team: Every trainer can carry up to six Pokémon at a time, so we have picked six friends for Ed. Every team must have a Pokémon of each type to be the “very best,” so Ed must have one of each to finish the game! These choices come from the ‘Celestial’ music video (since they’re Ed’s faves) and the Pokémon that we think match Ed’s personality. Let’s get on selecting the team, shall we?

Charmander: Ed’s Starter

Ed loves the three starters from the first generation of the franchise, but we think Charmander will be the best pick for him! Not only do they match in style, but Charmander’s evolutions (Charmeleon and Charizard) are incredibly powerful! Ed will be able to conquer the first gym in no time, as well as level it up pretty quickly throughout the beginning of his game!

Pikachu: A Classic Choice!

Pikachu is the most popular Pokémon, rightfully so! Not only it is iconic, but having it on your team is a great choice since its electric moves are very convenient throughout the game! Pikachu is one of the stars of the ‘Celestial’ music video, so it will be Ed’s perfect companion throughout his Pokémon adventure!

Snorlax: Ed’s Best Friend

Snorlax might not be the most active Pokémon of all, but don’t underestimate its strength. Once it’s awake, it will become an aggressive attacker! It’s a normal-type Pokémon, but it can also learn a variety of psychic moves as it progresses throughout the game. We chose Snorlax after seeing its wonderful relationship with Ed. They’re besties!

Machoke: A Mighty Fighter

Fighting-type Pokémon are underrated, but Machoke has made an appearance in Ed’s music video! It’s an amazing addition to the team. It can be easily obtained by evolving a level 28 Machop and then traded with another trainer to become its most powerful evolution, Machamp. Its moves are also extremely accurate in battle, so Ed should add it to his roster!

Lapras: Our Aquatic Legend

Lapras is perfect for three reasons: It’s included in the ‘Celestial’ video, so we already know that Ed loves it. It can learn water and ice-type moves, so it’s perfect to chill the battle arenas, and it can also help our trainer by getting onto its grey shell and swimming across the map! It will make Ed travel faster to reach those gyms quicker!

Exeggutor: We Choose You!

Although there were many great contenders to fill our grass-type Pokémon spot, we have decided to choose Exeggutor! We want Ed to be able to capture some Pokémons along the way, and this one is perfect to complete our team! Its accuracy is on point, and it can also learn some cool psychic moves as it earns more levels. Nothing like a well-rounded Pokémon to finish up Ed’s team!
