After a long wait for the news, it’s been confirmed that BTS will be taking a hiatus in order to move forward with their mandatory military enlistment. The announcement was made via BIGHIT Music, sharing that Jin will be the first member to enlist following the end of his upcoming solo release schedule at the end of October, followed by the other members in age order. The septet hopes to return as BTS around 2025, though they cannot 100% confirm a more detailed return so early on.
We are so proud of our boys, and while we know this is igniting a lot of emotions for all of us ARMY, we know full well that time really flies these days. But while it may feel a bit slower without the Tannies being active as OT7, we’ve been preparing for this day for a little while now and have come up with some Bangtan-themed activities to pass the time. Here’s a list of some ways to keep yourself entertained during the BTS enlistment.
(Re)watch Run BTS Weekly
Did you know there are currently 156 episodes of Run BTS? That means if you watch one episode a week, you’ll make it to October 2025! Run BTS is like free ARMY therapy, and we already have so many episodes available (and we know there are a lot of fellow ARMY who have some catching up to do. It’s okay, bestie, we get it.) This isn’t even including the special episodes the boys have said they’re working on that have been airing every few months! If you can pace yourself with these episodes, you’ll have a weekly dose of Bangtan that will take you right up to their return!
Run A Bangtan Book Club
It’s no secret that the members of BTS are bookworms and have shared a number of books that they’ve read over time. Get your Bangtan besties together and create a group chat to decide on a book that the boys have recommended and set a deadline to read it before discussing it together. And trust us, there are a lot of books to get through. As fellow bookworms, we hope they’ll have new recommendations when they return…
We often hear the word “go touch some grass” when it comes to fandom, but maybe that’s not such a bad idea? We all admire Namjoon and his love for all things nature and culture, so let’s take this time to disconnect from the internet for a little and get to appreciate the world around us. From forests to mountains, museums to art galleries, go out there and see the world in the way our leader does. Plus, word on the purple streets is that the boys can check Weverse for messages, so you can always capture your adventures for him to look over and live through ARMY vicariously as we do with his posts.
Try Their Favorite Recipes
Our boys love food. So one way to keep connected to them is to try some of the foods they love! From foods they’ve shared admiration for to recipes tried on some of their reality shows, there’s a lot on the menu you can try out. You can get the BTS cookbook from Weverse Shop or check out @BTSARMYKitchen, who always post free recipes. Bon appetite!
Brush Up On Your Korean
It’s no surprise that so many ARMY want to learn Korean, so now really is the perfect time to do so. Aside from the incredible Learn! Korean With BTS kits, there are also free videos on Weverse to help you. There’s also the incredible ARMY, including the Korean ARMY, who make their own content and support those who wish to learn the language. There’s no better way to get through the BTS enlistment hiatus! Are you ready to give it a whirl? 화이팅!
Make A Bora Bank Account
When the blessed day comes that BTS return, there’s gonna be a comeback and a tour, and we all know we’re gonna wanna be there, so now is the perfect time to start saving. If you save $1 a day starting today until January 1st, 2025, you’ll have $807, which is a solid amount of money to have for their big return. Plus, it’s unlikely they’ll actually come back on that day, so you may even round it up another hundred. Whether you make a savings account or use a jar and decorate it, start investing in your BTS future today because a little can really go a long way!
Host A BTS Movie Night
Whether online or in person, why not host a regular BTS movie night? Whether you use one of their many documentaries, a show like Bon Voyage or In The Soop, or movies and shows the boys have enjoyed, use this time to socialize with your ARMY friends and connect with the boys through something that they love!
We just wanted to say to all our fellow ARMY out there: we know it’s tough. This is something new for a lot of us, and even if you’ve been here long enough to prepare for the day BTS enlists, saying goodbye for a little while is never easy. We at The Honey POP are fans first and are fellow ARMY who truly get how you feel right now. How you feel in your emotions is valid, but it’s going to be okay. There is no bond quite like the one between BTS and ARMY, and as Namjoon said, we are literally so strong. The most beautiful moment really is yet to come, and that moment will be when we are reunited with our boys. Hang in there. Spring will be here once again.
