Right after the release of their Japanese comeback, ITZY are back with their first-ever English single: ‘Boys Like You!’
ITZY are no strangers to English songs. They already have in their catalog the English version of three of their songs: ‘In The Morning,’ ‘LOCO‘ and ‘Sneakers.’ However, what makes this pre-release so special is that it is their first original song in English. And yes, you read right: ‘Boys Like You’ is a pre-release single, which that means only one thing: more is coming from ITZY sooner than we thought. But before that, let’s dive in and enjoy fully ‘Boys Like You.’
Following their fun and quirky title track from earlier this year, ‘Boys Like You’ fits perfectly in ITZY’s discography, all while being quite different. The song could be taken right out of the early 2010s, and it is such a fun throwback. It’s pure fun, catchy pop, something we could blast and sing along to for hours. And, of course, ITZY put their own color and twist to this type of pop. A big highlight of the song is, by far, the bridge with Chaeryeong’s high note. ‘Boys Like You’ is a simple yet perfect pop song. The choreography is so much fun, the chorus is incredibly catchy, and the styling is just incredible.
And talking about styling – the music video for ‘Boys Like You’ is lowkey the best part of this release. Not only this pop-punk styling looks absolutely gorgeous on the girls, but the concept of the entire music video is so much fun. Seeing them fight over a man is so fun, and the fact that there’s a storyline makes it all the more enjoyable. Now, don’t worry, the music video might be about them liking the same guy, but the lyrics are all about self-empowerment and putting men back in their place.
‘Boys Like You’ is so much fun – both the song and the music video. It’s what we could’ve heard on the radio in the early 2010s but with ITZY’s own twist, and it works so incredibly well. It’s something new to ITZY, yet it screams their name and style. We can’t wait to see what ITZY have in store for us because this is only the pre-release single, and we’re already loving every single part of it.
