Our Canadian treasure has done it again! Fefe Dobson recently released her eighties-infused single, ‘Recharge My Heart’, the electrifying new bop we needed in our lives. In an interview with The Block on CBC, she explained the track serves almost as a letter to herself.
Full of her soul and personal heartbreak, it’s easy to see why it’s our new go-to anthem about finding magic and love again, even in the darkest times. ‘Recharge My Heart’ urges all of us to look inside, refind that spark, and go after what is going to make our hearts the happiest.
We first fell in love with Fefe and her edgy style back in 2003, when she released her revenge breakup banger, ‘Bye Bye Boyfriend’. The track peaked at #8 on the Canadian Singles Chart and, all puns intended, “recharged the hearts” of future pop-punk-loving girls everywhere! Follow-up singles included ‘Take Me Away’ and ‘Everything’ (which you might know if you’re a One Tree Hill fan!)
Her self-titled debut album, Fefe Dobson, was released in December 2003 and we haven’t stopped listening since!
Now, we could take you through an entire history of Fefe’s incredible discography (and trust us, we’d be living for it). Instead, we’ll say: stream ‘Recharge My Heart’ and get ready to fall in love.
It’s been over a decade since Fefe’s last album and we couldn’t be more pumped for this new era. A lot has changed since the days of heavy eyeliner and baggy jeans. One thing that will never change, though, is our love for Fefe and her unapologetic individuality. We’re sure this album will be the honest, real, and (fingers crossed) pop-punk remedy we’ve been waiting for!
As we prepare for her new album, set to be released in 2023, head over to Spotify and get your Fefe History 101!
