It’s Official: Rihanna Will Be Featured On The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Soundtrack

It has been six long years since Rihanna released ANTI, the flawless album that gave us hits like ‘Work,’ ‘Desperado,’ and ‘Love on the Brain.’ That’s right, it has been six years. The wait, however, is finally over. Rihanna is making her highly anticipated return with the release of ‘Lift Me Up,’ a track from the new Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. To say we’re excited would be a huge understatement.

Written by Rihanna in collaboration with Tems, Ludwig Göransson, and Ryan Coogler, ‘Lift Me Up’ was recorded in five countries and is a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman. While the full soundtrack will be released on November 4th, ‘Lift Me Up’ is set to release on October 28th and we seriously couldn’t be more excited about it. You can pre-save it here!

Co-writer Tems has described Rihanna as a big inspiration and stated:

“After speaking with Ryan and hearing his direction for the film and the song, I wanted to write something that portrays a warm embrace from all the people that I’ve lost in my life. I tried to imagine what it would feel like if I could sing to them now and express how much I miss them,”

Set to release on November 11th, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is the highly anticipated sequel to Marvel’s 2018 box-office hit Black Panther. The second movie will follow the characters fighting to protect Wakanda and forge a new path for the kingdom in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. The movie will star Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Guriria, Letitia Wright, and much of the same cast from the first movie, as well as introducing actors such as Tenoch Huerta, Michaela Coel, and Dominique Thorne to the MCU for the first time.

Although we don’t know much about the full soundtrack right now, we are pretty certain that it’s going to be incredible. In addition to Rihanna’s new song, we know that the soundtrack will feature Tem’s cover of ‘No Woman No Cry’ by Bob Marley, ‘A Body, A Coffin’ by Amaarae, and ‘Soy’ by Santa Fe Klan. The first Black Panther soundtrack was produced and created by Kendrick Lamar, featuring songs both from the movie and inspired by it. While we don’t know if Kendrick will be featured in the new soundtrack, you can hear his song ‘Alright’ in the trailer. We truly can’t wait to see what this new soundtrack has in store!
