Spielberg Is At It Again! The Fabelmans Is For The Artists With A Dream

Jaws, ET, Indiana Jones. Spielberg is the man behind some of the most iconic films ever. His 2021 adaptation of West Side Story was critically acclaimed, receiving nine nominations at the 94th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, further proving that if it’s a Spielberg, it slaps. So imagine our excitement at the promise of his newest movie, the coming-of-age spectacular The Fabelmans.

With a star studded cast, we cannot wait to see the masterpiece Spielberg has created this time. Gabriel LaBelle (The Predator, American Gigolo series) will play Sam Fabelman, an 18-year-old aspiring filmmaker in post World War II era Arizona, who believes in the power of films. The story is loosely based on Spielberg’s own life and it is dedicated to his parents Arnold Spielberg and Leah Adler. We’re not crying, you’re crying.

Also billed are four-time Academy Award nominee Michelle Williams (Manchester by The Sea, My Week with Marilyn) as Mitzi, Sam’s artistic mother, and, Paul Dano (There Will Be Blood, The Batman, Little Miss Sunshine) as Burt, Sam’s highly scientific and successful father. Of course, comedy lovers will be happy to learn Seth Rogen will play the character Benni Loewy in The Fabelmans!

I have always found ways of putting my personal life in everything I have done. Even in Indiana Jones, believe it or not. There are pieces of me in that. There are pieces of me in everything I directed. But this was a very focused, intentional story of coming-of-age and I’ve never told a coming-of-age story before. And I’ve never told one so close to my own experiences and to my heart.
