Highlight is back with their second comeback of the year, and we NEED to talk about it! Their fourth EP, After Sunset, is top-notch from start to finish. After Sunset features five songs that tell stories about lonely nights and longing for someone.
Highlight’s After Sunset is a THP-certified no-skips album, and we’ll give you three of our favorite tracks from this mini-album! But if we’re honest, we’d include every song from the EP if we could!
These kings knew what they were doing when they put this groovy title track as the first song on the mini-album! ‘Alone’ is about the empty space in your life when a lover leaves. You were so consumed by their presence that their absence hits hard now. And it hits even harder at night, as many things do. Highlight’s title tracks never miss, and we especially love their dark, futuristic music video concept! (We’re suckers for tech gear and chains, naturally.)
One of our favorite b-side tracks on After Sunset is ‘Paper Cut’ by far! Highlight sings about how loneliness can feel like a paper cut on your heart. The chorus is so catchy, and each member gets a spotlight on their vocals. And the instrumentals make for a good dance break if we ever see ‘Paper Cut’ performed live. (World tour announcement soon? Maybe?) We’re too obsessed with the song’s high energy and dance vibes!
‘I Don’t Miss You’
Highlight has to hit us with at least one emotional R&B track with each comeback. And we’ll fall for it every time! ‘I Don’t Miss You’ is another one of our favorite b-sides from After Sunset. We can’t forget that Lee Gikwang co-wrote and co-composed this track! It’s a song about letting go of someone once and for all. If you’ve been trying to convince yourself not to think about your ex, this song’s definitely for you.
