At The Honey Pop, December is easily one of our favorite months of the year; from the coziness of the cold weather to the hot drinks and knit sweaters, we absolutely adore the vibes of December. But if we had to pick just one thing we love most about December, it would have to be the snow.
So, to make sure you can curate the ultimate December playlist, we’ve selected a few of our favorite snow-themed songs that will truly get you into the Winter mood!
‘Snow On The Beach’ – Taylor Swift ft. Lana Del Rey
‘Snow On The Beach’ is the fourth track from Taylor Swift’s record-breaking new album, Midnights. Featuring Lana Del Rey, ‘Snow On The Beach‘ has a dreamy atmosphere that perfectly compliments the vocal styles of both Taylor and Lana, fully immersing you in the beautiful love story discussed in the lyrics. Pair this song with a couple of tracks from folklore or evermore, and you’ve got yourself the perfect December playlist!
‘Crystal Snow’ – BTS
‘Crystal Snow’ was released in December 2017 as a track on BTS’ MIC Drop / DNA / Crystal Snow Japanese single album. Lyrically, the song discusses two people who fell in love on a snowy day and how they eventually fade out of each other’s lives, comparing them to how snow melts in the warm. Written by RM, ‘Crystal Snow’ is an atmospheric and delicate song that excellently showcases BTS’ softer side, having similar vibes to older releases like ‘Spring Day’ and ‘Butterfly.’
‘Snowflake’ – Kate Bush
After the release of Stranger Things and the viral success of ‘Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God),’ we think that Kate Bush’s ‘Snowflake’ would be a perfect addition to any December playlist! Released in 2011 on her 50 Words For Snow album, this song is written from the perspective of a snowflake, following the journey it takes from being formed in the clouds to landing on the ground. This unique perspective is complimented by Kate’s haunting vocals and intense instrumentation, creating an almost cinematic vibe that we simply adore.
‘The First Snow’ – EXO
EXO are very well-known for their incredible Winter and Christmas albums, having released three since their debut. Being released on their Miracles in December album, ‘The First Snow’ discusses missing someone after a breakup and regretting the way you treated them during the relationship. While it may have been released nine years ago, this song remains a staple in our December playlists and is perfect for listening to on snowy days!
‘Hoping For Snow’ – The Vamps
Released by The Vamps in 2014, ‘Hoping For Snow’ is the perfect song for any lighthearted and fun December playlists! Like EXO’s ‘The First Snow,’ ‘Hoping For Snow’ discusses missing someone and hoping to re-kindle a romance with them during the festive season. While this may be a different style for the band, ‘Hoping For Snow’ still maintains that classic The Vamps sound and brilliantly showcases Brad’s flawless vocals. This is a seriously underrated song, and we can’t wait to see it in your playlists!
‘Snowy’ – ITZY
We at THP are simply obsessed with ITZY, so it seemed only right to include ‘Snowy’ in our snow-themed December playlist! Sampling ‘Für Elise’ and ‘Snowy’ has a mysterious and fantastical vibe that the members are able to execute flawlessly. Lyrically, the song discusses the feeling of dreaming or fantasizing about your crush and making them ‘the star of my own show.’ Due to the unique nature of the song and ITZY’s overall concept, ‘Snowy’ is a great song to shake up your December playlist!
‘Do You Want to Build a Snowman’ – Frozen
Did you really think we’d do a round-up of snow-themed songs and not include anything from Frozen? ‘Do You Want to Build a Snowman’ is a classic Disney song, and we think not including it in your December playlist would be a serious missed opportunity. Sang by Kristen Bell, ‘Do You Want to Build a Snowman’ is such a fun song and is perfect for singing along to during the colder months. To optimize the cozy Winter vibes, we recommend pairing this song with a Frozen re-watch. Trust us, it’s the best way to get into the December spirit!
