Lei And The Fire Goddess By Malia Maunakea
One thing about us: we will never get tired of stories inspired by traditional folklore. And Malia Maunakea’s Lei and the Fire Goddess draws from mo’olelo: the stories, myths, and legends of Hawai’i that were originally an oral tradition. While we can’t say we’ve ever insulted Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of fire and volcanoes, we enjoyed listening to Lei’s adventure to rescue her best friend. And her character development is so endearing as she finds where she belongs and fully embraces her culture.

Starlings By Amanda Linsmeier
Rounding out our list of June audiobooks is Amanda Linsmeier’s dark YA fantasy debut, Starlings. This audiobook follows Kit Starling as she visits her late father’s side of the family, people she never knew about, in a town that becomes more and more unsettling. Kit soon uncovers her family’s secrets and dark traditions that she must continue. And even though everything about Rosemont didn’t sit right with us from the beginning, we were not ready for how dark those traditions would be or how many lives were at stake.
