This Privacy Statement sets our data processing practices. Protecting your private information is our priority. This Statement of Privacy applies to thehoneypop.com and The Honey POP, LLC and governs data collection and usage. For the purposes of this Privacy Policy, unless otherwise noted, all references to The Honey POP, LLC include thehoneypop.com, thpmag.com, THP and “the site”. The THP website is a popculture news and information site.

We will always make sure that your information is protected and treated securely. Any information that you give will be held in accordance with data protection legislation, including but not limited to The Data Protection Act 1998, General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Data Protection Bill, and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

Information we collect

Like most websites, The Honey POP collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. The Honey POP’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how THP’s visitors use its website.

Some visitors to The Honey POP, choose to interact in ways that require the processing of personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information depend on the nature of the interaction.

The Honey POP may process certain personal information you opt to provide to us when you elect to use certain products or services available on the Site. These may include:
(a) email addresses captured when subscribing to the site;
(b) name and contact information when entering a sweepstake or contest sponsored by us or one of our partners;
(c) signing up for special offers from selected third parties;
(d) sending us an email message.
(e) Name and email address supplied by you via webform, either via the generic contact form, or to register an interest in joining the THP team.

Subscriptions

You can choose to subscribe to TheHoneyPop.com, via the site. Subscribing will enable email bulletins from The Honey POP via WordPress, to update you on new posts on The Honey POP. The email address you provide will be logged via WordPress, to fulfill the purposes of the subscription, which you choose to provide. We will not use your email address for any purpose other than fulfilling these purposes:

  • By subscribing to The Honey POP, you will receive email bulletins of new posts made by The Honey POP.
  • Subscribing to The Honey POP will enable you to view a ‘reader’ pane, in which you will be able to view new posts from your subscriptions, and comment on public message boards.

Upon choosing to subscribe to the site with your email address, you will be sent an automatic verification email by The Honey POP, and this email will ask you to confirm your subscription via positive action. At any point, you can choose to manage your subscriptions, including choosing to no longer receive emails from TheHoneyPOP, changing the frequency of emails, or choosing to unsubscribe. When you unsubscribe, any further processing of this personal data will cease.

Special Category Data

The Honey POP does not process any special category data, including children’s data. THP does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under the age of thirteen. If you are under the age of thirteen, please do not continue your use of the site.

Lawful Bases for processing personal data (GDPR)

We collect information from you:

  • When we have your informed consent. We ensure that where consent is required it will be freely given, used only for agreed specific and unambiguous purposes, and that you are well informed about how the information will be kept, for how long it will be kept, and how you can withdraw this consent. We will comply with current data protection legislation at all times.
  • Where the processing is in our ‘legitimate interests‘ (where these interests are not overridden by your interests or rights)

Third Party Processors

THP does not sell, rent or lease its customer lists to third parties.

THP may share data with trusted third parties to help perform statistical analysis or to send you emails where you have consented to receive these. All such third parties are prohibited from using your personal information except to provide these services to THP, and they are required to maintain the confidentiality of your information.

THP may disclose your personal information, without notice, if required to do so by law or in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to the edicts of the law or comply with legal process served on THP or the site; (b) protect and defend the rights or property of THP; and/or (c) act under exigent circumstances to protect the personal safety of users of THP, or the public.

Google Analytics (MonsterInsights)
We use Google Analytics for WordPress via MonsterInsights, for statistical analysis of how our site is found and used. This function is performed via cookies. You will be asked to consent to the application of cookies, upon entry to The Site. Google Analytics will not use any data relating to you or your session, without your consent.
To support your data privacy, all Google Analytics cookies are configured to only be enabled upon your consent. Our use of Google Analytics is also configured to automatically anonymize IP addresses on all Google Analytics hits and form tracking hits, as well as automatically disable the Demographics and Interests Reports for Remarketing and Advertising tracking on Google Analytics hits. UserID tracking on Google Analytics hits, eCommerce hits, form tracking hits, and the UserID dimension in the Custom Dimensions addon is also disabled.

JetPack
The Honey POP site contains public comment boards via JetPack. You can choose to comment on these boards, by either logging in with your WordPress account, or by entering your email address and name. Your email address will never be publicly displayed in your comment, but please note your name will accompany your comment.

When visitors choose to leave comments on the site, JetPack collects the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is to recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), JetPack stores the personal information provided in the user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). 

Note: For your privacy, we wish to remind you that any information you disclose within public comments, may be seen by other site users. The Honey POP does not utilize any personal data from comments.

Askimet

The comment board on The Site, utilizes a third party data processor – ‘Akismet’ by ‘Automattic’ which screens comments for spam and removes spam. Further information about ‘Akismet’ can be found at https://akismet.com/privacy/


Raffle Press (WordPress)
At times, The Honey POP utilizes a WordPress add-on function called Raffle Press, to run giveaways competitions. Users opt to enter a giveaway and opt to enter any personal data. Users will be asked for consent for the processing of any personal data collecting by way of a giveaway, as well as confirmation of consent to receive an email if the viewer is successful in the giveaway.
Data is only processed with consent and positive action by way of opting to enter any giveaway.

Google Ads
The Site contains Google services, such as Google AdSense. Google Adsense processes non-identifiable data about how the user interacts with or moves their mouse over an ad on the site, as well as whether the user’s browser displayed an ad on your site. Information like this may be used to measure an ad’s effectiveness, but won’t be associated with any visitors’ personally identifiable information.

Ezoic

Webforms

Visitors can choose to complete a webform on TheHoneyPop.com, to apply to join The Honey POP team. By taking the positive action of completing this webform, you consent to The Honey POP contacting you to discuss your application.

Via this form, The Honey POP collects and processes your name and email address. This data will be used only to contact you regarding your application, and will be processed solely for this purpose. This data will be retained until a decision has been reached regarding your application. If your application is unsuccessful, THP will cease processing this personal data.
