First, introduce yourself to our readers! How would you Describe your music for someone that’s listening for the first time? What would you like to say to your fans who have followed your career?
I am TAHNE and I am a singer/songwriter based in Nashville, TN. It’s a little bit of everything, so I would describe my music as anthemic pop with an R&B soul vibe. I would like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I wouldn’t know what to do without you!

Which artists inspired you growing up and helped shape your music?
I’d have to say Whitney Houston. I’ve always loved the soul that she put into her music and she gave it her all. I’ve always had a great deal of respect for her, so she is definitely one of my biggest inspirations.

Your new single, ‘Clarity,’ is out now! What can you tell us about the song? You said ‘it’s tempting to want to rush this process” in regards to ‘clarity,’ but in actuality how long did the whole process of this song take you?
It’s an empowering and impactful song about the journey of seeking clarity in your own circumstances and finding healing through it. It’s not that the song itself took that long to write, but the whole process in general from production to creating the visuals took a while. Patience was definitely the hardest and most tedious part because we’ve had it ready for so long. It’s such a big song and I believe the world really needs it.

Do you think the obstacles you faced as a child helped you achieve your dreams/become the person you want to be? How do you think the things impacted your songwriting?
My story is definitely the source of where my music comes from, especially its vulnerability. I think going through the foster and juvenile system really impacted me in a profound way. I’ve been able to reach so many more people because of my story and I believe it can only grow from here. I hope that I am able to impact more people’s lives through my journey, my overcoming, and my clarity.

With this new project you were going in as a new person, how beneficial do you think it is as a musician to have a different viewpoint for each new project?
I don’t think so much that I’m a new person, I’m just exposing different parts of myself. I think it would get pretty boring if I just said the same thing all the time. My job in music is to share light and love and bring joy to people’s lives. Each individual project is different based on my personal journey because I can’t share things that I’m not experiencing.

Let’s talk about the music video! What was the inspiration behind the music video? Who came up with the concept?
I had this idea about using bubbles because they are transparent and they can trap you in but they can also be a muse. I brought this idea to my team and we started to dive into the visuals and conceptualize how we could bring this to life. We worked on it for a couple of months before we were able to find the right team. I am super excited to bring this visual to you because I believe it will resonate in a very unique and artistic way.

What was your favorite part of filming your new music video? How was the process of filming due to the pandemic?
Maybe you have seen the scene with the birds flying overhead in some of my teasers and advertisements. As we were filming the end of the video, they flew over us and I knew we had to use that footage. Another highlight would have to be my whole team on the sidelines blowing epically large bubbles. It was amazing to see the whole team show up in such an amazing and incredible way.

The pandemic didn’t really halt us, we followed the guidelines and did what we had to do. We showed up and created something epic and had a blast. This song in general was such a powerful one to do during the pandemic because I think the whole team felt really impacted by the lyrics based on the times.

On the topic of clarity, what are some things that you enjoy doing to keep your mind, body, and soul clear from negativity and bad vibes?
I am writing a song right now that is focused on good vibes. I’m a fitness freak, I stretch, and I really like to dance. I meditate as often as I feel is needed, but still, there are sometimes when I don’t feel like I need to meditate, but I know that it’s necessary. I’ve also listened to a lot of podcasts. I love Oprah’s “Super Soul Conversations” and Jay Shetty. I find them to be really grounding. They’re both focused on mental wellness by overcoming and empowering people. That is something that I also focus on.

What lessons do you think you have learned from yourself,  from the beginning with ‘Hear Me’ to now with ‘Clarity?’ Whether it’s about music or just your life. Since this is your sixth studio project, how have you evolved?
I’ve learned that I just have to be authentically myself and speak my truth. There can’t be any barriers, I have to be completely vulnerable and open to whatever comes my way creatively and instinctually with my music. Over the years I’ve learned the importance of perseverance and knowing that I am enough. If you don’t believe in yourself no one will.

Finally, what can we expect from future TAHNE?
You can never be too sure, I like to keep things a surprise!

Now we are so excited to share with you ‘Clarity’ by TAHNE! It’s incredible and we know you guys will love it as much as we do!
