If there’s one name we can’t keep out of our mouths, it’s Katie Gavin. She’s had us wrapped around her finger since we got into MUNA all those years ago. But it’s safe to say this new solo era of hers has shown us we can actually only love her more! Her new single, ‘Casual Drug Use,’ has us dancing around our rooms signing it word-for-word at the top of our lungs.
This single comes after the release of ‘Aftertaste,’ which left the best kind of bittersweet taste in our mouths. ‘Aftertaste’ is all about the initial wave of bliss you have in a new relationship when everything is perfect. It highlights how fun being crazy and in love can be while giving you a melody to sway around to.
‘Casual Drug Use’ is similar, in the crazy sense that is. The song talks about being young and wild. But also the comfort of having your rat pack of friends by you along the way. Katie wrote the song after a breakup back in 2016. It was so vulnerable and honest that it stood the test of time to see the light today.
You’re probably thinking the same thing we are, when do we get our hands on this entire album?! What A Relief is out everywhere on October 25th and yes, our countdown has very much begun!
