We’ve been counting down the days until Winona Fighter released their debut album, My Apologies to the Chef, ever since we got the official announcement in October—and it was absolutely worth the wait! After dropping killer singles like ‘R U FAMOUS’ and ‘ATTENTION,’ we’ve been all in on the hype, and this album no doubt lives up to it. From re-recording iconic songs that defined the band’s early years, like ‘HAMMS IN A GLASS’ to unveiling new tracks that showcase Winona Fighter’s growth as an artist, like ‘JUMPERCABLES,’ this record is a perfect snapshot of where the band’s been and where they’re headed.
It’s raw. It’s got grit. It’s got emotion. It’s three punks obsessed with music making tunes for people obsessed with music. It’s our love letter to the punk-rock genre. We hope fans old and new love it as much as we do.“
Front-woman, Coco Kinnon, on My Apologies to the Chef
You can feel the growth, but the rawness is still there—this band is just getting started, and they’re already firing on all cylinders. If you’ve been following them from the start, you’ll hear the same urgency and catharsis you fell in love with, but with even more layers and depth. This is Winona Fighter at their best; we’re here for every second of it.

Stand Out Tracks
In case we haven’t made it obvious yet, we’re absolutely obsessed with this album and could easily sit here and break down all 14 tracks for you. But for your sanity, we’ll stick with our top three. Plus, if we told you everything there is to know about My Apologies to the Chef, we’d definitely spoil the fun of hearing it for the first time.
‘TALK’
‘TALK’ is the lead single from My Apologies to the Chef, and we couldn’t agree more with the choice. The song is a bold, in-your-face anthem about dealing with trolls and the nonsense that comes with being in the public eye, and it is addicting both lyrically and instrumentally. Our favorite line, “Artist like you always acting a saint / The devils in all the pictures you paint / I didn’t hear you, repeat it again,” perfectly captures the track’s relentless energy and makes it one of the album’s standout moments.
‘I’M IN THE MARKET TO PLEASE NO ONE’
‘I’M IN THE MARKET TO PLEASE NO ONE‘ was previously released last March as one of the album’s lead singles, and we still haven’t gotten over it. For good reason, the song hits hard with a message about vulnerability and calling out toxic behavior from men. It’s the kind of track that feels even more necessary now than ever.
‘DONT WALLOW’
Last but never least, in our hearts, ‘DON’T WALLOW’ closes out My Apologies to the Chef with a perfect mix of reflection and determination. The track was written about the band’s experience of flyering outside a festival they weren’t even playing; it turns an uncomfortable moment into a rallying cry to keep pushing forward. It’s the ideal way for Winona Fighter to wrap up the album, leaving us with a sense of resolve and a craving for what’s next.
