Multi-instrumentalist singer and songwriter Sydney Rose brought her signature melancholy to London! Tucked away in Southwark’s intimate OMEARA, Sydney Rose executed her saddest songs to perfection, bringing her recent project, I know what I want EP to life.

White skirts and flower crowns
Sydney’s gig at OMEARA felt more like a secret slumber party for her most devoted fans. Think long white skirts, flower crowns, and the kind of soft summer night that you would write about in your teenage diary. She even decorated the mic stands with fairy lights, which we loved! It was intimate, emotional, and full of heart.
Her sharing heartfelt lyrics with us felt like she was spilling glitter over the scrapbooks of our lives. Her songs are honestly so relatable that it healed something within us. Knowing that people around you are going through the same things is very comforting. And we all obviously responded with love in return. Offering up flowers, cards, and gifts, which Sydney gathered on stage with warmth and gratitude. She chatted between songs, thanking everyone. It truly made us feel like we were old friends she hadn’t seen in a while!
Also let’s talk about the moment she played ‘Before & After You’ that literally dropped the day before and the crowd already knew the words?! She looked so genuinely shocked and grateful, it was wholesome.

Noah Levine
In between sharing her biggest hits like ‘We Hug now’ or ‘5 more minutes’ she was joined on stage by a singer-songwriter Noah Levine, who also opened the night. They surprised us all with a duet of Phoebe Bridgers’ ‘Graceland Too.’ It was the perfect additional touch – a soft and sad, but relatable cover.
There’s something kind of magical about how songs about heartbreak and sadness can bring people together. Even Sydney couldn’t help but laugh at her own setlist, joking ‘Let’s continue being miserable!’ between songs.
That night, in the glow of fairy lights and quiet harmonies, we all felt it. Misery never sounded so lovely and we definitely want to experience it again!
