It’s ‘Sweater Weather’ season!!! Finally, it’s that time of year where the leaves crunch under our feet, the days have a yellow hue to them, where you look out your window and you’re feeling Twilight-esque, and we’re curled up in our cozy oversized sweaters listening to our favorite albums and artists. Unless you’re reading this from Australia … in that case, enjoy your vitamin D (we say this from the UK, knowing we won’t be seeing any sun for the next few months).
‘Sweater Weather‘ may mean the fall season to many, but to us (ifyk), we immediately think about the band that soundtracked our early adolescence, The Neighbourhood. Their genre-blending sound and moody aesthetic, especially from albums like I Love You and Wiped Out!, are mandatory listening for this time of year.
The whispers on the street (and on Melrose Avenue) say the boys are back. And we can confirm it. The Neighbourhood surprised fans with a pop-up appearance in East Hollywood, signing merch and teasing snippets of a new project. Details are still hush-hush, but after a three-year hiatus, the band is officially on its way back, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Tumblr Or TikTok
Back when the upside-down house was one of the most recognizable symbols online, Tumblr was our universe. We were reblogging black and white photos of Jesse and diving deep into songs like ‘R.I.P. 2 My Youth’ back in 2015. A decade later, their aesthetic of monochrome visuals, mysterious personas, and that slow-burn California cool brings back all that emotional nostalgia. They were a band, they were a vibe, and now, with platforms like TikTok shaping our listening habits, we can’t wait to see how their aesthetic transfers and attracts a whole new generation of listeners.
Growing With The Neighbourhood
We may have traded Tumblr dashboards for 9-to-5s, late-night texts for quiet reflection. And while we changed, The Neighbourhood did too. Their later projects, Hard to Imagine the Neighbourhood Ever Changing and Chip Chrome & The Mono-Tones, showed a band unafraid to evolve. We got to see their sound evolve with vulnerability and experimentation, and trust us, we stayed.
Our Fandom Reunion
Built through connection, we, The Neighbourhood fans, have been through the eras, the heartbreak, the bold fashion pieces, and identity shifts together. So, it’s only fitting that the news of the boys getting back together as The Neighbourhood feels like a reunion. An ode to our teenage self, if you will! Speaking to fans, it’s easy to see how growing up alongside artists shaped their identity. We never really left that moody Tumblr kid behind; we still carry them with us. And if you could tell 2015 us that we’d still be getting new music 10 years later, they would be the happiest.
(((((ultraSOUND)))))
As if their comeback wasn’t already enough to process, the guys dropped three new tracks: ‘Private,’ ‘OMG,’ and ‘Lovebomb.’ And the countdown to the official album release of (((((ultraSOUND))))) set to release on November 14th begins! Each single carries that familiar mix of vulnerability and groove we’ve come to associate with The Neighbourhood. For ‘Private,‘ Jesse Rutherford even recorded the vocals on his phone, it’s truly raw, intimate, and perfectly imperfect.
Drawing inspiration from Brit-pop while staying true to their California indie roots, the record promises delicate yet gritty vocals layered with hints of grunge and dreamy, psychedelic textures. It feels refreshingly evolved and will be a deep dive into heartbreak, disillusionment, and emotional vulnerability. A 15-track confession of everything we’ve missed from them.

The New Chapter For The Neighbourhood
The band’s teaser in Hollywood and snippets of new songs hint at their new chapter. Maybe it’ll sound like the sunset version of ‘Softcore.’ Maybe it’ll feel like the future of nostalgia. Whatever it is, it’s arriving at the perfect time. Because as the days get shorter and the air gets colder, we’re ready to slip back into that familiar sound that carried our adolescence.
So yes, The Neighbourhood are back, and yes, it’s right in time for actual ‘Sweater Weather.’ While we anticipate the upcoming music and enjoy watching fan reactions, meeting the guys in Hollywood, we want to know…Were you here from the Tumblr days or TikTok sounds? Either is welcome, and both are rejoicing over this news! Let us know in the comments or on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
