Against the Current’s latest track is called ‘blindfolded,’ but when it comes to this band, our eyes are always wide open. They’ve been a favorite of ours for a while, so when we heard they have a new track out, we were ecstatic. We missed hearing Chrissy Costanza’s iconic vocals and ATC’s addictive tracks. And, fun fact, this is Against the Current’s first release as an independent band! ‘blindfolded’ tells a story of finding freedom and having your “eyes wide open” to your reality. This is what the band had to say about the track:
“For the first time since we were teenagers, ATC is finally back in our hands. blindfolded is the story of dreams becoming twisted into nightmares, where ignorance is blissfully intoxicating. This new chapter is entirely real, and entirely ours.”

The idea of dreams and nightmares presents itself in the production of the track. The opening notes of the song feel very whimsical and even a little haunting, which continues throughout the track. It creates the perfect background for the theme of the song. This is the best way for Against the Current to enter a new era tbh. Personally, we can’t wait to see what new sounds they have in store for us.

Truly, we missed Against the Current, plain and simple. In addition to jamming out to their previous album fever, we got a taste of Chrissy’s voice on her features with The Summer Set and State Champs. As they embark on their independent band journey, we’re excited for whatever new projects and new music they have in store for us.
