Fresh off of the 2022 release Let Yourself Free, Fitz and the Tantrums are a household name we recognize and have been on a journey with (think, the soundtrack to all our fanfic dreams?!). We at THP were fortunate enough to catch them at Webster Hall in NYC, full of hits, classic and new, which reinvigorated a packed crowd. After all, there’s nothing like a banging tambourine and rich saxophone.
Standout moments of the night include the live rendition of ‘The Walker,’ off of which a rhythm that invited the audience to clap and snap along, plus simple lyricism, allowed fans both new and old to catch on quickly and absolutely rage along to.
With an upbeat tempo, the blending of tracks from the eponymous Fitz and the Tantrums, released back in 2016, shined in tandem with the major throwback to the group’s debut, More Than Just a Dream, which was warmly received by the crowd. One of the smash singles off the album, ‘Out My League’ radiated themes of love and celebrating how things work out (and trust us, Honey Poppers, it’s always for the best!) if you’re feeling heartbroken – this is the band you need to listen to.
But for starters, let’s get into what y’all need to know down. If you’re all for branching out beyond standard pop, Fitz and the Tantrums nail the capturing of emotions like love, life, and reflection with a timeless, celebratory sound – all factors that keep them at the top of our playlist rotation.
And let us tell you, Honey Poppers, these are tracks you need to hit play on and just dance it out. (We’re right there with you!)
