Is there a better way to enter the fall season than with a new Citizen song? And that’s not where the fall magic ends, either. ‘When I Let You Down’ is simply the newest banger they’ve released from their upcoming album Calling The Dogs, which is out everywhere on October 6th! And we can count on a season of pop-punk perfection, knowing we’ll have our hands on their new record!
‘When I Let You Down’ shows a reflective side that we don’t always see in a Citizen track. The song looks back on relationships that you’ve left behind for one reason or another. Memories are a beautiful and special thing, but there’s a bittersweet feeling when you can only share memories with someone whom you were once close with.
When you talk to an old friend, and they can only say, ‘remember when,’ it makes me really sad. It’s a very subtle way of showing the friendship has died. Some people are a bit lost in life and this song is to encourage them to move on from the past and make new memories.

This marks the band’s third release from Calling The Dogs, and each single has shown us a different side to the band’s artistry. ‘If You’re Lonely’ puts their emotions out in the open to truly broadcast the love the band has for not just their close relationships, but the fans as well. And ‘Hyper Trophy’ is the kind of punk banger you’d expect and love from Citizen.
You can catch Citizen on tour across North America this Fall or in the UK/EU early next year! This is shaping up to be one of the band’s most powerful and insane eras yet. And if you miss it? Well, that’s something we just can’t let happen! What song are you most excited to hear from Calling The Dogs? Let us know in the comments below!
