Asking Alexandria brought their friends Memphis May Fire, Nerv, and The Word Alive, for an outdoor show at The Backyard in Fort Lauderdale, for the aptly named All My Friends tour. If these are their friends, can we be part of their squad? We bet the music playing during the hangout sessions is top-tier.
Nerv
We started off the night with Nerv, a California rock band, the ‘new kids on the block’ (see what we did there?) who have been on the scene for seven years. The other groups have been around for closer to fifteen or twenty, so having many experienced tour-mates must be nice, like having older siblings who can show you the ropes and teach you the ins and outs of things. Their songs struck a “nerve” within us (okay, we’ll stop, we promise.) They fired us up and kept the energy momentum for the rest of the groups.
The Word Alive
The Word Alive was next, and they kept that fire burning. They kicked it off by taking us back to 2012 with their song of the same name, followed by ‘Nocturnal Future’ and ‘Play The Victim,’ where front-man Telle Smith cemented his place in the space.
Memphis May Fire
Following them was Memphis May Fire, another classic band in this genre. Lead Vocalist Matty Mullins was as electric as ever and proved to us why they are synonymous with this music. The set started with ‘Make-Believe,’ followed by songs like ‘Vices’ and the new single ‘Chaotic,’ which we are still singing in our heads.
Asking Alexandria
As night started to fall, headliners Asking Alexandria did what they always do and got the crowd ready for another great set. The English band played their music and everyone enjoyed it as per usual. A few sound issues did not stop singer Danny Worsnop, as he made light of the situation, getting laughs out of the otherwise frustrated crowd. He made sure that everyone got his attention and saw what they came to watch.
We enjoyed seeing these seasoned veterans (and our favorite new guys) do what they have always done, showing why they have been in the industry for nearly two decades.
