There are certain artists who help us feel like life is worth living. No matter what hardships and changes we’re going through, they always know how to comfort us with their irreplaceable poetry. That’s exactly how BTS’ Namjoon makes us feel, and his newest single, ‘Come back to me,’ has arrived at the perfect time for us to admire his genius craft. As with every new song by him, we’re invited to reflect on how life is connected with confusion and hope at the same time. Let’s get deeper into the single and how Namjoon has created another gem.
A Masterpiece In Every Medium
As big Namjoon enthusiasts, we always love how every single one of his releases includes multiple art forms that he enjoys and admires. He wants to share how important it is to feel amazing crafts to its fullest. ‘Come back to me’ also makes us appreciate that sensation. Whether it is musically or visually, our most beloved art lover has done it again.
The song instantly became one of our favorite tracks ever, as it flows perfectly with Namjoon’s voice and the instrumental. We love how it mixes the soft guitar during the main verses with the different instruments in the chorus, as it feels like the track is a journey within itself. Plus, it’s even more complete with its music video and its multiple interpretations. The video shows Namjoon feeling out of place, navigating through different phases of his life until he ends up meeting someone else who’s also feeling like a stranger in their own life, shifting the mood to brighter scenes and happier times for our protagonist. It’s so incredible to witness how the video brings us along to that realization: A reflection of yourself (and/or yourself) will make you feel like you were meant for your life and all its paths after all. We’re 100% certain that every single path will drive us to Namjoon’s artistry.
Also, we want to point out the fantastic acting by Namjoon and the entire cast, as well as the little details from the video that made it even more touching, like the brown-based color palette and the change in lighting. This entire video was, without a doubt, a 10/10! We’re so thankful to be able to support artists like the members of BTS. Every single one of them has created visual stories that were the perfect companion to their solo projects, and seeing them grow with these tracks is truly a blessing. We wouldn’t trade it for anything else!
Namjoon’s Discography Keeps On Being Our Pillar
‘Come back to me’ is the first single that Namjoon has released since Indigo, and we couldn’t help ourselves from connecting this new track to the feelings we have every time we listen to his previous album from start to finish. ‘no.2,’ the last track from Indigo, leaves us with the message that we shouldn’t feel regretful with the choices and worries we might have. The past is indeed in the past, and we’re not looking back. We shouldn’t feel frustrated with our possible “what if’s” because the decisions that we’ve made have allowed us to be who we are now. We would be different if we didn’t follow through with these choices.
“All those accidents that you believed were destined to happen, all those nights that felt like an eternity, all you did was just to do your best.“
Lyrics from ‘no.2,’ translated by Doolsetbangtan
‘Come back to me’ brings us closer to analyzing those possibilities again, especially with the last scene from the music video. In this scene, Namjoon opens the door that he has been trying to open for the entire video, and we can see how the rooms of the house go beyond the horizon. This gigantic maze symbolizes how many different lives we have experienced in the past, how many we live in the present, and how many we might live in the future. Even though thinking about all this might be overwhelming, Namjoon shows us how everyone is capable of finding the right place to fit in and how, in the end, everything is going to be okay. There’s always a possibility of growing as humans. There’s always a chance to retrace your steps, if you wish. Regardless of what you choose to do, it will all be okay. Namjoon will always be that artist who helps us deal with our deepest feelings about time and human growth.
Our Dearest Leader Has Really Channeled An Indie Vibe!
We knew that Right Place, Wrong Person would be an album full of indie tracks, but this single has truly surpassed all of our expectations! ‘Come back to me’ is the best pre-release single for this project, and we feel like its production fits right in with Namjoon’s comforting aura. We can’t wait to listen to the whole album and see how we will be able to relate to his upcoming lyrics. Are we able to get it ASAP? We know our lives will change even more the moment we get the rest of the songs!
