Dreaming of outer space and running away to the stars is not beyond us. At THP, we are dreamers, especially when our favorite artists’s songs are blasting through our headphones as we drift away. If there is one artist group that makes the best music for daydreaming in a galaxy-filled haze, it’s Foster The People.
To celebrate their brand new song, ‘Lost In Space,’ we are imagining what life would look like if we were ‘Lost In Space’ with Foster The People – what would we do for fun? And which tracks would we put the aliens onto through their futuristic AirPods?
The record started as a case study of the late Seventies crossover between disco, funk, gospel, jazz, and all those sounds. It was such a beautiful moment in time, when these different styles of music were cross-referencing each other – artists like Nile Rogers and Chic, the Tom Tom Club and Giorgio Moroder. Mark Foster said about the new song in a press release
I wanted to dive into that and figure out what they were doing. I was also thinking about how that era has musical and social parallels to the time that we’re in now, with the giant recession in the Seventies, the political turmoil post-Vietnam, and other major tensions. But then you see these expressions of joy happening through music, and I started thinking about joy as an act of defiance.

In order to get from planet to planet, we’d take a shooting star (duh!) 💫. This is the most efficient and fun way to explore our galaxy, and we’ll look shiny and pretty while doing it! For this part of our adventure, we’d stream ‘The Things We Do’ and let the celestial orbit take over.
Get Lost In The Milkyway

What’s an adventure without getting lost? Up in space there is no way to tell time, so we’re in no rush to return to Earth 🌏. Good thing Foster The People just released ‘Lost In Space,’ and it’s the most perfectly produced song for a trip through the milkway! One day when the UFOs land on Earth, the first song we’re making the aliens listen to is ‘Lost In Space,’ we know they’d love it.
