Did Kacey Musgraves just make the biggest album announcement of 2026 so far? We say YES!
There’s been lots of new music, tour, and festival announcements this year, and we’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed. But when we heard the one and only Kacey Musgraves was releasing an entirely new album this year, plus a single, ‘Dry Spell,’ our adrenaline started racing. She’s just one of those artists who live so close to our hearts, and new music means a new chapter of our lives.

Her Saturn Has Returned
The Deeper Well era has officially ended (but like, not really, because we adore that album), and the Middle of Nowhere era has begun. Kacey’s Saturn return has come and gone, and just like us, she’s in a brand new chapter of her life. That means we’re getting a brand new album! But first, we get a single. ‘Dry Spell’ is everything we love about a Kacey Musgraves record. A little bit of country, a little bit of folk, and a whole lot of woman-focused lyrics that empower us with each new line. Thank you, Kacey! This may just be the best new single of the year thus far. How can it be beaten?
13 New Tracks With Iconic Features
When Kacey announced the new record, you best believe our first questions were: When does it release? How many tracks are on the album? And are there any features? The answer is essentially “yes.” So, let’s break it down. Middle of Nowhere releases on May 1, 2026, and is made up of 13 new tracks, including ‘Dry Spell.’ On top of that, we’re getting a handful of features, including Gregory Alan Isakov, Billy Strings, Miranda Lambert, and Willie Nelson. That’s a bunch of iconic country names!

“The bulk of this record was made during the longest single period of my life, and I found that for the first time, it actually felt incredible being alone and existing in a space not defined by anyone else. I became fascinated with the concept of liminal space, both geographical and emotional. We don’t linger in these transitional, empty spaces long enough and rush to define where or whatever is next. I became so at ease with being in the “middle of nowhere” in many senses and sitting in the un-comfort of the undefined. I had a lot of time for creative ambling and leaning into myself in different ways; horses, humor, writing with my early collaborators again, and living out my very simple, inspired life between Texas, Tennessee, and Mexico.”

Kacey Is Dripped In ‘Mexico Honey’
We’ve already got a sneak peek at each of the new song titles (check them all out here!). From our initial look, we’re excited to hear ‘Mexico Honey,’ ‘Horses And Divorces,’ ‘I Believe In Ghosts,’ and the title track, ‘Middle of Nowhere.’ Do we know what any of these tracks are about? No. But do we know they’re all going to be amazing? Yes. That’s just the Kacey effect—every song is equally amazing. This album is going to be sweet, sweet, sweet like honey!
