It’s finally happening! Gracie Abrams is no longer our little secret. As she deserves, she sold out her U.S. The Secret Of Us Tour in a matter of hours. It may be harder to snatch a ticket to see our pop princess, but we’d still like a say in the setlist.
Gracie is taking ahold of our summer with her newly upbeat releases like ‘Risk‘, and we couldn’t be happier for it. However, we could never forget where we came from. Aside from the new The Secret Of Us tracks, we need to hear these past Gracie hits on tour this year.
‘Full Machine’
Being a little more upbeat, ‘Full machine’ may be the closest on Good Riddance to her more extroverted Secret Of Us sound. So it could serve as a nice transition between the two. And frankly, we don’t need to find a way to justify its place on our imaginary setlist. We just think it’s fun to sing with Gracie and a room full of fellow fans.
‘Best’
Again, we don’t need to justify our choices if they’re clearly the best songs for this setlist. However, we will pitch it to you anyway! ‘Best’ is the title track of Good Riddance. So if she’s going to play anything from her last album, it should be this. We realize that putting this song over some of the singles from Good Riddance may be a bold choice. In our defense, we feel the singles are given requests. And we would argue that you don’t know the true art of ‘Best’ until you’ve heard Gracie sing it live.
‘For Real This Time’
Going back to This Is What It Feels Like; she’s a classic and deserves a permanent spot on any future Gracie setlist. Also, Gracie has grown so much since this release. We would love to hear her more mature vocals belting out the chorus of this song.
‘Friend’
First of all, we know ‘I miss you, I’m sorry’ deserves a spot on the setlist. And as much as we’d love to imagine that it will be there no matter what, we really can’t know with all the new songs she’s about to introduce to us. However, in an attempt to keep this list short, we just picked out one from minor. And as the more obscure song, we needed to make sure Gracie knew about our need to hear ‘Friend’ live just one more time. And notice how we slipped both songs in anyway.
‘Close To You’
In case you didn’t hear, Gracie claimed she would play every song on The Secret Of Us for her tour. So this one must be a given. But we adore this song so much, we had to put her on the list. Do we hear song of the summer? We’ve only had a week to make this claim, but we already feel pretty sure of this title. After begging for this song for so long, we can hardly believe we might get the chance to not only hear the song, but also see Gracie perform it right in front of our eyes.
‘Mess It Up’
We know this is a long shot. That’s why it’s our last request. After ‘Close To You,’ anything is possible. That’s why, even though Gracie has admitted to not connecting to one of her first released songs anymore, we would still like to make a request. But because so many of her fans relate to it, it would be cruel not to add it. We’re totally not speaking from personal experience here. Besides, the bridge is something we need to yell with her.
If you’re convinced that you need to see Gracie Abrams on tour after seeing our list, good luck! Our girl has completely sold out her headlining tour, and as much as we wish we could gatekeep her, we couldn’t be more proud of her.
