She’s back and better than ever. We’re talking about Grace VanderWaal, of course. You know her from songs like ‘So Much More Than This’ and ‘Clearly,’ but her latest release is nothing short of magical. Her gorgeous voice is unmistakable, and now it’s a bit more mature, leaving us yearning for more and more! This song is the perfect way to cap off the end of our summer, and now Grace is officially part of our summer playlists!
‘Call It What You Want’
We’ve been following and listening to Grace for a long time, and this song is one of our top five favorites! The best part? The backing vocals! Grace’s voice is so ethereal, and if you listen closely, you can hear her hitting some gorgeous notes and harmonies in the back.
She’s just 20 years old but delivers sounds that make her relatable to anyone of any age. ‘Call It What You Want’ takes us on a journey of love – the beautiful and the ugly. Sometimes, a relationship isn’t healthy for us, but we stay in delusion and denial for the sake of the other person’s happiness. This reminds you to listen to your gut and always put yourself first! Self-love is the best kind of love here in the hive.
‘Call It What You Want’ is a story between two people in denial,” Grace says about the song. “A romanticized justification in pursuit of avoiding the truth at all cost ‘this isn’t real’…There’s also a sense of desperation, this is this precious thing that I must control and hide, we binge our love at night.”
